How many naps a day is he having? Just one or two? If it's two, at his age he might be trying to drop one of them?
So I was actually wondering about that. When is it time for babies to drop down to just one nap a day?
LO has been napping once for 2.5hrs and then it'll be such a huge struggle to get him to go down for the next nap and when he finally does nap, it's like 20min. So I was wondering if he really needs that 2nd nap anymore? But he's not even 1 yet, so I thought that it was a bit early for just 1 nap a day? FWIW, he does sleep 13 hours on most night (sometimes 12) but not sure if that means 1 nap/day is all he needs.

Some kids drop at around 1 year old or a bit before, others keep the second nap until they're 18 months - it's a really wide range and just depends on the child. Will and Dash sleep for about 12 hours at night but still like two naps (usually about 2 hours each, sometimes a bit less) during the day and show no signs yet of wanting to give one up.
FWIW, I believe that at that age, they need about 14-15 hours of sleep a day total. So if he's getting 12-13 solid hours at night and 2 during the day, he's technically met his needs and I'm guessing that if he's wanting to drop a nap (which it sounds like he does) he can do it. You may need to move his bedtime up a little to compensate if with just one nap he's getting overtired before his usual bedtime though. But I'd give it a try and see how he goes!

OMG, I f-ing hate you. Okay, not really, because I love you BUT I would give my right arm for Kaya to sleep that much. No wonder you have time to keep up your Project 365 and blogging, and the boards. Kaya sleeps about 10 hours at night and takes 2 45 minute naps, which go by so fast that I can't get a thing done. So basically, I go to sleep about an hour after I put her down for the night and wake up when she wakes up. This gives me about 8 hours of sleep. And seriously, I really can't get much done when she's awake, hence, I get NOTHING done. EVER. Ugh.
will and dash are still getting 16 hrs of sleep/day? E has NEVER slept that much (okay, maybe in the beginning ). I'm happy if we get more than 14 right now, and ecstatic if we get more than 15. and i worry constantly that he's not sleeping enough, but I've seen such a wide range of what's ideal for each age! anyone have a good chart?

LOL don't hate me too much! I have NO IDEA how we got to this point. They used to only take 45 min naps, and that was the absolute maximum. Then when they hit about 10 months old, it was like magic and they suddenly started taking longer naps. I really have no clue what changed - it was like a switch flipped, and I am sooooo grateful for it!
And don't be too jealous of all my spare time...most of it I spend on house stuff or studying. My blogging is SO sporadic these days (like once a week if I'm lucky) and I keep falling behind on the 365 project. Still, I know I'm lucky with how much they sleep - at least I get to sit down and have a cup of coffee and read the junk mail (yes, I'm a loser and enjoy doing this).

It's SO weird - they never (and I mean NEVER) slept this much before about 10 months old, and certainly not for such extended periods of time. I don't know if maybe they've suddenly decided to sleep through growth spurts or something? But they're happy and energetic so I've decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth lol!
ETA: I'm re-doing the math, and it's actually a bit less than 16 hours. Bedtime is 7pm, but that's actually bath/book time as well - they're actually asleep at about 7.30pm, and wake up at around 6.30-7am (sometimes they also wake up for a bottle at around 12pm). So actual night sleeping time is more like 11 hours. That, plus 3-4 hours of naps per day (usually closer to 3 hours) is like 14 hours total. I'm still not complaining though lol!

yesterday, he slept less than 13 hours total...
Yeah, we're down to about 13-14 hours a day now. If I'm lucky he'll sleep 11 hours in the night, and lately it's only been a total of about 2-3 total napping hours (split between two naps) lately.

HA! I don't think I've blogged in over a month! And our house is a disaster most of the time. I don't even want to admit how infrequently we clean. It's sad but sleep trumps cleaning ALWAYS.

I kept thinking I'd catch up on my blogging, but it's the first thing to get shoved to the end of the list. The second thing is cleaning. Our house needs to be cleaned so badly, and it's just not going to happen anytime soon.

Elle has gone from taking 30-45 min naps to 2-2.5 hr (sometimes 3hrs) naps 2-3x a day! I am not quite sure if her going to daycare had a lot to do with it but she started having longer naps a couple of weeks after she started going there. I don't know what her caregivers did but am not complaining :-).

She sleeps 11-12 hrs at night. She still fusses/wakes up between 530-600am so we feed her and then she goes back to sleep. Oh, not sure if the swaddling during naps also helped. You'll never know, Eric will just surprise you one day and take long naps .

he's already down to one nap, so when he's refusing, he's not napping at all! Which makes for a very tired and cranky baby when I get home...
we went through this phase but it was (thankfully) short lived (less than 1 wk). i think as toddlers there is so much "excitement" going on around them that they don't want to sleep and miss it all i would still try to get him to have "quiet time" in his crib if possible, though.
Libby dropped from two 45-60 minute naps/day to one 1.5-2.5 hour nap/day just before her first birthday. Rarely, will she take two naps/day now. She did last week but she had a BIG day...park and zoo in the same day, so she napped after each.
She's WAY better at sleeping at all night now...the past few nights she's gone from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. without waking. Other nights she wakes around 4:30/5 a.m. and I'll change her and nurse her and she'll go back down until 8:30-9 a.m. This is a change from her waking around 11 p.m./12 a.m. and then again at 3/4 a.m. Hooray!
I was putting her down at 7 p.m. but we've adjusted it to 8 p.m. and that has seemed to help her sleep longer. Now that the weather is nice, we also spend 1-2 or more hours outside each day and I think that has helped her to sleep better too.
