Travel Toys

I'm taking a girls trip with my mom and 15 month old.  We're driving, not flying.  I want some kind of toy that DD can use at parks/rest areas/picnicking, or in our room at night, that would be fun without a million pieces getting lost.  Ideas?

  • Books are always great.  Make sure someone is always sitting next to him, too, to keep him occupied in the car.

  • A Magna-Doodle is great if she's at all interested in scribbles. We started out with a travel-size (small!) one and when we found out how much my son loved it, bought the regular sized one that we use on car trips now that he's bigger. Also, the travel-sized See-N-Say toys are fun and come in different kinds (we have a turtle that makes animal noises and plays music, and also have an Elmo one).

  • I am cutting and pasting a post I wrote on another board recently. Ada loves her plastic animals, and they are great for taking on trips.

Ada loves schleich animals. They sell them at specialty toy shops, Toys r Us and Target. they do not take up much room and she will play with two of them for a long time.

Some of them are small enough to be choking hazards, but some of the bigger animals are fine. We have the zebra, wilderbeast, warthog, leopard, tiger, lion, giaraffe, elephant, and kangaroo. I would stay away from the baby animals because they are small.

We also have an okapi and wolf made by Papo
