When we put our little girl into her crib at night, we put her on her side with a pillow behind her. She'll fall asleep this way. Before we go to bed, we'll go in and remove the pillow and put her on her back. Sometimes, she wakes up when we do this. Her back isn't her favorite position. She just seems to prefer to sleep on her side and sleeps much better this way. Does anyone leave their LO on their sides all night?

This is what my LO does. I let her sleep like that.
My son is a tummy sleeper. I put him in on his back and he is on his tummy in seconds (I watch on the monitor). I let him do it. Everything I have read says that once they do it on their own there isn't much you can do.
I would NEVER EVER put a pillow in a 3-6 month old's crib though. You never know when she might decide to shift on her own and end up with her face in the pillow. They become mobile in their cribs pretty quickly.

All of this. DS sleeps on his tummy, and it doesn't bother me. Just as side sleeping wouldn't bother me. But a pillow is not a great idea, IMO.
I would never put a pillow in there even if I was periodically check on her. It's dangerous and it's not worth the suffocation risk.
