What did you see? I am scheduled for my first one tuesday. I will be 6w2d. My doctor said maybe we will see the beginnings of a fetal pole. Last time at exactly 6 weeks we saw a gestational and yolk sac, that of course didn't end well. This time I am really hoping for a good heartbeat.

Re: For those who had an us at 6 weeks...
We saw the fetal pole and HB, but of course this early on it's such a gamble whether or not the HB will be visible. It can literally be the difference of hours and it starts beating.
Good luck!

My first ultrasound was at 5 weeks 5 days, and we saw the gestational sac, yolk sac, fetal pole (measuring 5w5d), and saw the flicker of the heart beat. It was very difficult to get a heart rate though, because the baby was sooo tiny. It varied from 104 to 123. And it is normal that early for the heartbeat to be around 100 bpm, because that is right around when the heart starts beating. It's not until around 7-8 weeks that the heart rate increases.
If there is a fetal pole, and no heartbeat seen, don't worry. On a transvaginal ultrasound, you should see the heartbeat flutter when the measurement of baby is 5mm or more. So if baby is only measuring 3 or 4mm and there is no hb, don't worry. Good luck at your ultrasound!

Honestly, right around the 6w mark you have about 50/50 odds of seeing a heartbeat (based on what I've heard here and from my doctors).
I had one in the ER around the 6w mark. LO was measuring 6w1d. There was no hb detected at that point. There was, however, one seen yesterday at my NT scan. Every doctor I spoke to after that early u/s wasn't worried in the least about there not being a hb. They, and all the ladies here, said its still perfectly normal to not see one at that stage. What I saw on the u/s was a gestational sac and a fetal pole. Looked like a black sac with a grain of rice in it on the screen.
I'd really suggest going in there hoping to see a hb, but prepared to just see a fetal pole. Focus on the measurements & let the flicker be a bonus if it happens to be there.
Good luck next week!

This was the very first u/s pic we had, I think it was from 6w3d. We saw a yolk sak and the heart flicker.

We had our first ultrasound at what I thought was 5w6d. At the u/s they said I was 6w1d, and they did detect a hb of 111 bpm. However, don't be dissapointed if you don't hear one. At 6 weeks its such a toss up as it starts beating right around that point. You may or may not hear one. But, to ease your mind a bit, I hope you do! Good luck!

I was 8 weeks with Ollie, so no advice.
I was 6 weeks with Ian and we say a HB.
With Ryan we saw not much and then a heartbeat two weeks later and it still didn't end well.
So best of luck.

My life has a superb cast but I can't figure out the plot.
6wks is tough because some people dont see too much while others will all ready see baby w/ heartbeat. With our first pregnancy I had an U/S at 5w5d and there was all ready a heartbeat, but with this pregnancy our U/S was at 6w4d and while there was a heartbeat it was very very low or not there at all (dr's couldn't tell if it was mine they were detecting or if babys had just started beating, it was at 64 bmp)
We saw this at exactly 6w2d, along with a hb of 120 bpm.
