City Mini AND an Uppa Baby Vista?

I know some ppl just use the city mini, but does anyone have both? Do you use both? I feel like we'll use the CM for vacation and quick trips, but the vista for the first 3-4 months exclusively and then for longer walks. Any thoughts are welcome!

Re: City Mini AND an Uppa Baby Vista?

  • Thus far the UBV is my only stroller and I'm happy with that. Neighborhood walks, mall, etc - works great for me for all.

For traveling, if you feel like you need to have a stroller (so far I've used a carrier and skipped the stroller for air travel) then I'd get an umbrella style.  There is no way I'd check the Vista.

ETA: Ok, I do have a cheap jogging stroller that we got for DH to actually go running with...and it is also used sometimes for going to the park, but mainly because it's set up and ready to go in the garage, not that I wouldn't use the UBV for the same thing (I prefer the Vista, but DH likes the jogger for rougher terrain).

  • Why not just got a true umbrella stroller like the Uppa Baby G-Lux, G-Light, or a McClaren? Then you have a second stroller that is under 10 pounds. The Citi Mini is light for that type of stroller, but it's still 17 pounds.

  • We have both and they have worked great.  We use the UB 90% of the time, we just switched the bassinet for chair after 5 months of using that exclusively.  We use the CM for travel and when DH is home alone and wants to go for a walk since the UB stays in my SUV.

I'm not a fan of a true umbrella stroller - we didn't want to give up quailty and comfort while we travel/DH walks and the sunshade was a huge deal since we travel to FL at least once a year.  Most umbrella strollers do not recline, have a limited sunshade and look uncomfortable for both baby and parents.  To us, the CM is well worth the few extra pounds to get the whole package.

I live in FL and the extra shade is worth it to me. Also, since its so easy to close and open it's comparable to the umbrella strollers you mentioned.

  • We use the CM for all our trips, including long walks and you can lower the back to use it from the beginning.  You can get both if you want to spend the money, but the CM is great and the cheaper of the two.

I have both.  I use the City Mini for travel only.  I couldn't use it as my everyday stroller because I am tall and I kick the back of it walking at stride.

Not to say it's not a great stroller, it just couldn't be my everyday stroller (or my DH's since he's tall too).

But, I travel with DS alone a lot and needed something with the folding ease of the City Mini.

  • We have a Vista and a G-Luxe.  The G-Luxe has that huge sun shade like the Vista and reclines.  I liked that it was lighter than the CM and is a true umbrella stroller.

If you haven't already, I would test drive and compare the strollers side by side.

  • I have the City Mini and the Bugaboo Frog (very similar to Uppa Baby).  I actually wanted the Uppa and never got it and just settled for CM and lucky me ended up getting Bugaboo as a gift.  The reason I love having both is this:  I keep CM in car and use it for out and about trips where I need to drive (mall, parks I drive too, city, etc...).  It takes up so much less room in car and is easy to fold with one hand, etc..  I keep the Bugaboo at home ready to go for neighborhood strolls, walks to the park, etc... What I like about the Bug or Vista is that baby can face you.  They can only do this in CM when they are still in car seat.  On occasion I bring the Bugabbo out in car and curse myself in parking lot saying why did I not bring the CM since it is far more compact and easier to get together and apart with one hand.
