Need vacation suggestions for this summer (east coast only)

We are looking for a drivable destination for a week long vacation this summer. Only requirements are that it doesn't go any further south than NC and Maine is too far north. I would also prefer a beach location. If you have a favorite hotel/b&b/rental include that too! Thanks ladies :)

  • Any NC beach is good.  My favorites are Ocracoke Island and Bald Head Island.

this exactly! Bald Head is gorgeous and it feels really private.

We rented a house in Sea Isle, NJ last year and it was really nice.  We also really like Long Beach Island, NJ.

  • We're thinking of Ocean City MD. There are a lot of great places to stay and the beach & boardwalk are beautiful.

  • LOVE the outer banks of NC.  Beautiful beaches.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • We rent a house every summer in Virginia Beach with DH's family and stay right on the ocean.  Its beautiful!

  • I've been to the Outer Banks and I lived in VA Beach.  They're great beaches, in their own respects, and it depends on what you're looking for.

IMO in Virginia Beach there's a lot more to do with the boardwalk, restaurants, playgrounds on the beach, etc.

IMO in the Outer Banks it's quieter.  There didn't seem to be as much going on, there were some really great restaurants, but, not knowing the area, we kind of had to hunt them down.

Also, I think Ocean City is nice, but I'd rather go to Virginia Beach.

    Rehoboth Beach, DE

Mystic, CT...not on the beach but only 20 min away from Misquamicut in RI. Lots to do with aquarium, seaport, shopping, casinos

  • My family goes to the Outer Banks every other year and we love it.  It's more of a relaxing vacation, not a do something new every day kind of vacation.  We spend the days at the beach/pool.  One day we'll go to Ocacroke Island.  Sometimes we'll go to Kitty Hawk.  You can kayak, parasail, windsurf, that kind of stuff.  We usually do one thing a trip.  There's some good restaurants, too, but nothing super nice.  If you're looking for a relaxing, beach vacation, OBX is the place!

Sea Isle is nice.  We also like Ocean City, which is great for kids!
