Vulture!

How does a barely 5 week old drink over 3oz of pumped milk and STILL have to breastfeed ! Do bigger babies tend to eat more? She was almost 9 lbs at birth.

Re: Vulture!

  • Mine is only a wk old and he is already taking 3oz of pumped milk in his bottle. We're still trying to get back to the breast. Not sure if birth weight has anything to do with it but he was 10.1 at birth

  • Due to an infection with my cesarean incision, I had to stop bfing and have been pumping and dumping.  I, of course, have been formula feeding.  I thought ff babies needed less to fill up b/c formula is heavier than bm?!  LO usually finishes 2.5 oz but has been known to down 5+ and he's 3 weeks old!!  I am worried he'll be a real chunk but yet, I'm not gonna deny my newborn food when he's hungry!!  I just hope I can keep up to him once we are able to go back to bfing/pumping!!

  • Ellis was 7lbs 10oz at birth, and she's now 8+ lbs, almost 3wks and is downing 3.5-4oz per feeding. I started pumping and measuring when I noticed she would BF wait half an hour and feed some more. The baby was hungry! Have you tried upping the oz in the bottles?

  • They usually have a growth spurt between 5 and 6 weeks, that may be what's going on.
