In one of my parenting magazines they have a little article about some freakish thing that happened to a mom or her child (child's hair got caught in the electric mixer, something fell on the child's head while he was climbing on the shelves at the store, etc.). Well, here's what mine would be.
Last week I took a pregnancy test and got a positive. Yesterday I started bleeding so we went to the hospital for bloodwork/ultrasound. Long story short: they found no gestational sac on the u/s and my HCG levels were 0. I was never pregnant. I got a false positive. So weird. We're completely shocked, to say the least.
Re: It happened to me
I'm so sorry. I don't want to make this worse, but it sounds like you had a chemical pregnancy.
"A chemical pregnancy is the clinical term used for a very early miscarriage. In many cases, the positive pregnancy test was achieved before the woman?s period was due but a miscarrige occured before a heartbeat was able to be seen on an ultrasound."
FET to TTC #2: 9/29/14 Beta on 10/8/14 = BFP!
DS #1 Born 1/3/11 after IVF #1
4 failed IUIs, including 1 CP
PCOS
TTC since 2008
BFP 11/29 - m/c @ 5w
that's true. i had 3 CPs and with each one, my HCG levels still took like 2 weeks to get below 5 and i had to have BW ever 4 days to make sure.
Thanks. Uh, both DH and I kind of have mixed feelings about the whole thing. I was feeling a lot of guilt (M would still be a baby and not get the attention he deserves, the baby wouldn't get the attention it deserves, etc.) and very overwhelmed, but we had grown used to the idea. We've always wanted our kids to be close in age, just not that close.
So, we're sad that I'm not pregnant, but grateful for the extra time with just Micah. He's getting lots of extra cuddles today, too!
