It sounds like the new rules should were the types of things that should have been abided by just because they make sense--food should not be stored on the floor and there should be a barrier blocking dirty water from splashing out of the "dump sink" onto food contact surfaces. I would like to think a reputable place is doing more than just the bare minimum.
Hey - just wanted to point out a couple of facts that no one's really talking about on here:
-None of the items they were marked off for were food-safety related. I read that the inspector commented more than once that it was one of the cleanest restaurants he'd seen. Many of the "mark offs" were for things like how many inches the thermometer was from the edge of the cooler, etc...
-They were reinspected on March 23 and received a 90 / A.

Thought the same thing!
Food on the floor seems like a food safety thing to me. Such a reputable restaurant that is part of such a high end group of restaurant should never get a 57.
I don't work there... I just hate to see a company get raked over the coals w/ no one telling both sides of the story. Especially since the media seems to always be all over what's sensational, but not really that interested in reporting anything "fair and balanced." I guess being negative appeals more to most people.

Just saying that my local waffle house can maintain a 90+ rating...

Seriously, this made me laugh out loud.
This is an odd first "hello" to the group. On a food post, really???

I'm always amazed how people find these threads. I guess nest/bump posts get indexed pretty high by google.
Re: Just heard Buckhead Diner got like a 50 on food inspection
Wow, So it was a follow-up from getting a 75 in march and they didnt care to improve things?
Looks like they had a lot of new violations in the followup
Here is a link to a write up in the AJC about it.
Apparently they aren't changing the way they do things.. the Fulton County code changed. Whether they were aware or not, who knows.
