High-Risk Pregnancy

Retroplacental Bleed

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has had a Retroplacental Bleed? I am 7 weeks tomorrow and found out yesterday I have one and I can't find any clear info about what exactly it is and how risky it is. My Dr. said it put me at a higher risk for miscarriage but with progesterone shots every week and "taking it easy" it should be fine. but I can't help but to worry.

Re: Retroplacental Bleed

  • Is this a subchorionic hematoma (blood clot in the uterus)?   That will make you at at higher risk of miscarriage than a normal pregnancy.  I havent heard of retroplacental bleed so I'm not totally sure if we are talking about the same thing.

    Good Luck though!

  • The way my dr. explained it, it is a blood clot behind the placenta...so maybe it is the same thing.

    Thank you so much!

  • The location of my clot I have left is under the baby near the bottom of my uterus. I am on the healing side now, but did 8 weeks of bed rest and had to quit working when I was only about 7 weeks pregnant.  I'm now cleared to go back to normal, but no traveling because I'm at risk of going into early labor.  Did your Dr tell you the size of the hematoma? That may help you to know how you are progressing.
