1st birthday approaching - gift to NICU nurses

I was thinking as Jack turns one next month of bringing over a big birthday cake or something to the NICU to thank the nurses for taking such amazing care of Jack last year and letting them know how grateful we are to them as he turns 1.  Is this cheesy?  Any other ideas of something I could do?

  • I think that's sweet :) I am taking the nurses cupcakes this week but I plan on taking something every year on her birthday. Also, I am making the nurses a shutterfly book w/pictures of her from birth to her "graduation" :)

  • I think its a great idea!  I'm sure the nurses will appreciate it!  Since the second half of my duo will be discharged on monday (I feel confident saying that as he has not had a single apnic or bradycardic event for 37 days and has taken every feed from bottle for 40, its only antibiotics that are keeping him there). We are bringing the nurses coffee every day, switching up mornings and nights, and I ordered personalized coffee mugs for their primary nurses as a thank you.

Sorry...I'm lurking...but I'm a nurse, and this is not cheesy at all!  Actually, very touching, thoughtful, and sweet, and happens much less than you think.  I think the birthday cake is a great idea!  As a night nurse, to treat ourselves, we sometimes bring gourmet coffee in to brew....you could maybe throw in a bag (in case the cake is gone by the daytime).
