I've been seeing comments, posts, pictures about Montessori teaching/living. Can anyone explain what exactly this is to me? I want to do what is best for DS while he's young and I can mold him into a good person and teach him to be independent (not like he isn't already). I just feel as if I'm not doing enough when we are home together all day. Any info, pointers, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Montessori
In a nutshell, you "Follow the child" and allow them to develop at their own pace, using a prepared environment and using methods that allow for self-correction. Each child learns in their own way and this educational method supports that. It's kind of like, you give a man a fish and he eats once, you teach him to fish and not only can he feed himself but he can teach others to feed themselves.
You might want to look at some books, "Teach me to do it myself", "the absorbant child", "the montessori method", "Maria Montessori: her life and work" and there are a LOT of others.
