BFing mama's ?

Pumpers could probably help too. I am EBFing right now but want to freeze some just in case. If I pump the the boob that I didn't just feed on which boob do you feed on next time? Should I pump for just a few minutes? I'm concerned that she will want to nurse again and there won't be enough milk. I know that we make milk as we're feeding but I'm still concerned. Or should I pump in between feedings? I need help I have no idea what I'm doing! TIA!

Re: BFing mama's ?

  • I am EBF'ing but also pumping for when I go back to work.  Basically I pump during the first mornings feed as that seems to be when I am most full.  I will first pump on the breast that she just nursed from and then the other breast.  Then when she's ready to eat again, I nurse her from the breast I last pumped.  I then pump in between her afternoon feedings.  Even after I pump, it seems she is still getting milk if she wakes up hungry soon after.  Good luck!

  • I have a double electric pump and my LC said to always pump both sides, even if she just ate. It will help build your supply.

This is what I do. I get more from one side than the other, but I still get some from the side she just ate from.

This. You should always pump both sides. What I do is let DD nurse on both sides and then pump when she's done.

  • Whenever you pump, I would do it only after the LO has finished eating. I used to pump after every time in the beginning, but it was too much on my nipples. Now, I just pump twice a day...once at night after a hot shower when LO is already down for the night and some time in the morning when I'm engorged.
