Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

At what age did you transition your baby out of the crib?

Re: At what age did you transition your baby out of the crib?

  • We haven't yet. I plan to keep her there as long as possible. Either I get pregnant or she climbs out. Neither one has happened yet so she will stay in a crib. She is perfectly happy in the crib.

  • DS#1 - 18 months

    DS#2 - 2 years and 1 day.

  • DS is 2 1/2 and we're going to be transitioning him soon. He's perfectly happy there but I'm pregnant and soon it's going to get difficult for me to bend over the crib bar.
  • 15 months and she did great from day one.

  • We're keeping her in the crib until she starts trying to climb out, or by her 3rd bday, whichever comes first.

  • I have a feeling we are going to have to transition her soon.  She keeps telling me "i hate my bed/I hate my crib" so as soon as we anchor her furniture to the wall we will get the new bed for her.  But honestly I've been putting it off.  If she were making efforts to crawl out then I'd speed up the process but she's been really good up until this point so I haven't made the effort.

  • We haven't yet but I'm interested to see what others do, I'm afraid mine is going to climb out before I'm ready to move him!!  He's tall and he already climbs everything else...

This was our plan but he climbed out a few months ago so we transitioned then.

  • Like PP, either until he climbs out or I get pregnant. We are waiting until October/November until we actively start trying for financial reasons. He'll most likely be in the crib until he is close to 3, unless of course he climbs out beforehand.

At 14 months. DS2 was arriving in a few months and DS1 wanted to sleep in the twin bed in his room (it served as a guest room as well). So we went with it and it was really easy!
  • We switched her when she turned a year.
  • Haven't yet and don't plan to soon.
  • my uneducated guess; when she starts climbing or there's a new baby at home. LOL

  • DD#1 is still in her crib. She does not try and climb out so we just bought a new convertible crib for her and her old crib will be for DD#2 when she arrives in July. DD#1 doesn't seem to mind sleeping in there and this is one way of me keeping her my baby as long as possible!

  • We are keeping her in the crib as long as possible.  She is 19 mos right now, and we have no plans to move her anytime soon.  She sleeps on a cot at preschool, so we didn't think it would be a big deal.  But we tried to have her sleep in a regular bed when out of town, and she is like a monkey on speed.  She never stops moving and doesn't settle down.

  • Per pedi's rec we are doing it in a week or two (waiting for his big boy bed). He has been HATING the crib lately and for about a week now sleeping on the couch in his room. He is officially done, which is good because we are moving the baby furniture in the soon to be nursery. The room has been gated since last month because our bedrooms are on the second floor and because we don't like him visiting in the middle of the night.
