I find it overwelming and stressful sometimes because you're trying to do all you can to make sure you get a BFP and then at the end you don't and you start the cycle all over again...its hard to relax...I'm the same way!
I do think that stress can affect your cycle...however, for me, I would be more stressed if I wasn't temping. I would be wondering all the time. Temping allows me to really feel like I am doing something...even if it's taking 30 sec to put a thermometer in my mouth. I have a friend that doesn't temp and her AF was late. She was really stressed. I think she would have been a bit less stressed if she had charted. That's just me.
I do think charting stresses people out. Just depends on the person.

I'm not trying for #2 yet, but thought I'd add my input. I think temping/charting and/or using OPKs might help increase your chances of getting KU because you'll know when (if) you O (and you'll know your body better in general). If you don't O and/or it takes more than 12 mo to get KU, you could use your chart to provide a doc info that could possibly help you (JMO) I think this board is supportive of those who are TTC and having support from others who are going through similar things as you might help decrease your stress (I would think). GL and hope you get your BFP soon!

My stress levels very much effect my cycle. they always have. my first 3 cycles TTC all were only 15 days long because every time I would approach O I would get anxious and my AF would start causing me even more stress. I went to my gyno and they said the same as your doc. I stopped temping, charting, checking cm, I BD'd every other day all month and figured if I hit O then fantastic. I got my BFP. I freaked out and got super excited. I also got nervous and then I lost it. I'm not saying the stress made me lose it but I have entertained the idea. I think for some people stress is a very strong factor in their ttc. GL to you.
It does get stressful but at the end of the day you know you tried every option.
Married: 5/09 ~ TTC Since: 10/10 ~ PCOS ~ Progesterone from 10/10 - 2/11 ~ HSG on 3/18 - Clear ~ Started Metformin 1000mg & Clomid 50mg 2/11 ~ Metformin upped to 1500mg 4/6 ~ 6/7 Now going to SG and put on Clomid, Ovidrel, Gonal F, Prometrium, Estrace ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP!!!!!! March 6th our little man was born.
6/17/13 - Ovidrel, Follistim, Prometrium ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP! March 17th our St. Pattys day baby arrived
10/29/17 - Started process for IVF, got pregnant & miscarried a 2nd time since summer. 2/22 started stims - Menopur, Gonal F, Cetrotide - retrieval 3/6 - , PIO, estrace 3xday - FET 4/18 = Beta 1: 616; Beta 2: 1342 = BFP
I am actually not temping yet because I can be very high stress and I think tempting would set me over the edge. For the first 3 months I am only using OPK and I am monitoring my CM and overall how I feel. I am charting without temping just to learn a bit more about my body. I just know how extreme I take things so I am easing into it.

I think it causes a different kind of stress. It gives me something to obsess over lol and I do sometimes stress over "omg what does that pattern MEAN!!" etc - but it also creates less stress, bc I know I'm ovulating, I know when i'm ovulating, I know our timing is good, and I know if/when my period is late. So it causes some stress but takes other stress away.
Sometimes. But I just look at the boards and charting as more knowledge. I am a researcher and I find I relax more when I know what is going on, but that is just me. I do think for some people that the charting and the boards can get stressful, it just depends on what kind of person you are.

momtoboo- sorry for what you had to go through..I wish you luck in the future,
I know its so hard to decide what to do- BC when I tempt/opk/cm etc/message board/ its all I think about and than when you get the BNF it worries you to think what is wrong if you did everything ?
I wish BFP to everyone in the near future and also peace of mind!

It took me 5 months of charting, temping and taking ovulation kits for my first daughter......it took one night of unprotected fun to get pregnant for my second daughter. YES it causes more stress!
It's a double edged question. I know many ppl that did the try and relax approach and it worked and other who it didn't work for but when they temped and charted and such it work. I think it depends on the person. I tend to get stressed but I would probably be even more stressed not knowing. I might try the relax approach for a few cycles and see if does anything.

I know for me, I like knowing what is going on with my body, so charting helps me. But I find I can't spend too much time on the bump or I get freaked out. I see so many negative stories and it makes me feel sure that mine will be negative too. So THAT is unhealthy for me. I have to limit bump time to a couple times a week for a few minutes.
I am going to do this. We were using charting and temping as a way to avoid and so now that we are actively trying, I'm just putting the thermometer down. I think for me, even when we were using it to avoid, it caused me more stress because every morning I'd be wondering what kind of temp I'd get. I have never missed a period in my life unless I've been pregnant, so for me I'm not to worried about the ovulation thing, and this way I don't know exactly what day to expect my period, so I'll definately be more relax about everything and I think that will help.
If anything, I'll at least spend less on pee sticks....

Started our exploration into the world of international adoption June 2012. We have no idea what this is going to look like but we are excited to find out!
I do find it a bit stressful, but I'd rather be a bit stressed than just wing it. My personality does not mesh well w/ "just relax and it will happen". Once I want something, I give it everything I've got and if disappointment comes w/ it, then that is okay. I'd like to know I tried everything I could to get a baby instead of just "hoping that it happens". Charting is especially good for me, because this cycle I didn't O till CD26. How would I have known that without charting? I had EWCM for over 10 days. We would have missed our window for sure.
I avoided charting until this past cycle (cycle 6). That's also when I started lurking on here and I have learned a lot. I've noticed this past month I've been less stressed because I know more what's going on with my body and it just makes me FEEL more in control. I think it really depends on the person.

I think it's different for everyone. I just came off BCP so I'll see when I get my period to start tracking my Oing. Besides that I think I'll only start temping and really charting if nothing is happening for a bit.
Stress will effect my AF and cycle, so I'm not surprised it could dampen fertility.
That being said, everyone reacts to stress a little differently and has different triggers. For some, temping is an easy routine to get into and doesn't cause stress. For others, it does. I'm temping for the 2nd time and am being less diligent/stressful about it -- ie I'm not going to bother to set an alarm to get the perfect same-time. The alarm was waking my husband and freaked me out when it went off -- we're light sleepers. As my temps are still showing a clear pattern similar to last cycle when I was more diligent, I'm sticking with it.
I'm not using OPKs as trying to decipher the things made me anxious and frustrated. I figure ED or EOD is good enough until I see a confirmed O on FF.
The boards don't stress me out, but they do indulge my impulse to obsess over TTC

I think charting and temping helps me to stress less because I know what is going on with my body. Before I started charting I had no idea when to expect my period, how long my cycles were, when or if I was ovulating, when I should take a HPT, I felt so lost and just sitting and waiting was hard to do.
This helps me to focus my stress on something more productive I think. I would be stressed either way, so at least by charting and temping I feel like I have more control over the situation.

Ditto. I was more stressed before I started charting but now I feel like I know my body better. Trying to "relax" is difficult since I am 37 and feel like time is ticking away.
