What was your favorite book as a kid?

I randomly thought of my first book report on Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel.

Re: What was your favorite book as a kid?

  • The only 2 that stick out are "I'll love you forever" by robert munsch

    and the very hungry caterpillar

I also owned every single Berenstain bear book

  • Loading the player...
  • "Too Loose the Chocolate Moose" by Stewart Moskowitz, which sadly is out of print. Was the first book I'd "read" my parents when I'd memorized it. Once I read myself I loved Rudyard Kipling's "Just so Stories".

  • The book I learned to read by myself was Hand Hand Finger Thumb but my favorite stories to read were the Beatrix Potter stories, I just got the box set for LO yesterday! When I got older I didn't read a lot of series books except the ones that were historical ficton about different events written in kind of a diary format (I can't remember the name) and a book called Nory Ryan's Song about the Irish potato plight.

  • I loved a lot of books, but this one has a special place in my heart:

My grandma bought it for me when she was living with us when I was small. We laughed sooo hard at this book, over and over! It was so special to us. :)

  • I'm going to let my nerd flag fly on this one, my fave author was Michael Chrichton. I started reading his work the summer between 2nd and 3rd grade. Before I jumped to that ship though I LOVED The Baby Sitters Club, and The Baby Sitters Little Sister books. Mary Downing Hahn was a fave author of mine too before I got into Michael Chrichton and Stephen King.

    The Giving Tree was, and still is one of my all time favorite books. {Makes me cry.}

I don't remember much before 2nd grade. :( I do know the very first book I read was The Foot Book by Dr. Seuss.

I LOVE Little Critter books.  My Mom saved all of mine and gave them to me when I moved out.  They are in the attic now, but I can't wait to break them all out.  I think I own everyone!  I've always been a reader so as I got older, I loved R.L. Stine, the murder mystery ones, Beverly Cleary, Roald Dahl really pretty much anything!  Oh and in fourth grade we read The Chocolate Touch by Patick Skene and How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell.  LOVED both of them!

  • I still have my favorite book (it's held together with duct tape for the binder and has tape holding some pages in) and I plan to give it to LO...it's the classic "Green Eggs and Ham"

I had almost all of the Dr. Seuss books and what I didnt have of the collection, I'm buying now for LO to have a full set!

I love me some Dr. Seuss LOL

  • I used to stay up all night and read by my nightlight.  My mom would catch me, take the book away, and make me get back in bed.  So I started taking 3 of the same book out of the library at the same time.  This way, when she took it away, I could keep reading!

The Yearling was read pretty much entirely by nightlight sometime during third grade.

I was also obsessed with books about horses... think Marguerite Henry.

When LO gets here, I plan to read to him every night... I love books and I hope that he will love them, too.

  • I was such a nerdy kid, that's all I did was read and play outside.

I loved the Baby Sitters Club books..loved, loved, loved them! I don't really remember what else I read when I was really young though. I also loved Sideways Stories from Wayside School...so funny. I also loved The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

As an adult I still like kids books, mainly Harry Potter..I am obsessed. But I love Eric Carle as well.

Me too!  I don't remember much about it, but found it in my room last time I was rummaging around at my parents' house and remember loving it in the 3rd grade.

I think my favorite would have to be Make Way for Ducklings, though.
