I work FT as a Physical Therapist Asst and am on my feet, lifting, pulling, bending over, etc all day long. I am totally exhausted!!! I feel like I can never get rested and when I wake up I feel like I haven't even slept. I was sick my entire 1st trimester and have felt better but everyday I feel even more tired. I know pregnancy makes u tired but I almost cant explain how tired I am. I have mentioned to my employer about poss going PT and they said "We dont like that idea" and left it at that. I work for a small company(>50employees) so the FMLA rules dont apply to them. Its not financially possible for me to quit, but I could go PT and we wld be fine. I know most women work now during their pregnancy. But is there anyone else out there feeling the same and if so, how r u dealing with it?? It's overwhelming trying to perform you same duties and get ready for the baby. I really love where I work but they dont seem like they will be willing to work with me to make me more comfortable. I just wanted to see if anyone else is having a hard time working while pregnant. ??? and do u plan to return to fulltime after baby is born???
Re: Working FT and work after baby
Can you ask your employer for some desk work? Even a couple hours a day will probably make you feel better.
I worked through my whole first pregnancy and hope to do the same this time around but my job involves hours sitting at a desk so it really isn't demanding.
My employer will not let me work PT either. I take an addt B12 vitamin and an iron supplyment. I have low iron levels which can make you even more tired. The B12 and iron seem to help give me more energy. Maybe you can talk to your Dr about it.
I'm a physical therapist, so I know exactly what you are talking about. It is physical work, and as my pregnancy progresses, I just feel lucky I have supportive other staff and a great student. I plan to go back to work FT after the baby is born (because I have to), but I plan to work PT for a few weeks to adjust. I guess it may depend on where you live, but I know there are a lot of PT/PTA job openings out there, so it may be time to look elsewhere if your company won't let you work PT. Or you could always work PRN if needed.
