I never LOVED pickles before, never disliked them. I just finished off 2 open jars in the fridge, and lucky for me there are still 2 more. HAHA. Is it me or do a lot of pregnant women "crave" pickles during their pregnancy. Here's for the pickle lovers, whats your favorite brand/type of pickle!?
Mine is claussen, hearty garlic.... old faithful is vlasic kosher dills ![]()
haha
Re: seriously... whats with being preg and pickles?
I've eaten four today and I think they might have given me diarrhea. I hope not because they are so tasty right now. Maybe it was the green olives.
EDIT - Four pickles, not jars.
I've always been a pickle freak. Even when I was little I would ask for pickle juice to drink with my pickles (mom has a pic of me at 2 drinking out of the jar).
My favorite cut is the classic Vlasic Kosher Dill spears, but the garlic ones are great too. Moby Dills are the best whole pickles, though...they're huge!
I was diagnosed with a thyroid disorder when I was 16, and they said that eating more iodized salt was actually good for the management of the condition , and that my pickle "addiction" was probably my body's attempt to keep the iodine levels up.
I don't have the diagnosis anymore, but I still love pickles, and my blood pressure stays consistently normal. So far, MD says I'm still game for pickle binges
Not going to lie....this post made me go eat pickles. i love the deli stlye, and pickles from the middle eastern food mart.
Heard something about the craving before that and that it may have something to do with our bodies needing something or other.
Could've been an OWT tho.
Anyone else heard something like that?
Edit--- It wasn't about the iodized salt tho, what else could it be? I know that some say that craving ice has something to do with iron, which I also crave, and am anemic... could it be iron that has to do with pickles too?
For me it's anything sour (pickles, lemons, grapefruit, pineapple). I get a bad taste in my mouth from the nasal congestion and so tart and sour always helps it go away. I read somewhere that the bad taste thing is pretty common.
Claussen kosher garlic dill sandwich slices are my fave...at least now. I ran out of my own homemade pickles a month ago. Can't wait until dill's in season so I can make some more!!
I have always loved pickles since I was little and my love for pickles is even stronger, now that I'm pregnant.
I have a few brands that I like, but they all are the kosher dills. It doesn't matter if they are whole, spears, stackers, chips or relish...I LOVE them all!
Not long after I found out that I was pregnant I stopped at the store after specifically for pickles. I got the dill chips and ate pretty much the entire jar, juice and all, before I got home. After eating that many in such a short time I kinda got sick to my belly and only touched them in moderation after that.
Now my new, and temporary, love is the mild banana (yellow) pepper rings! They are tangy like pickles but yet they are also mildly spicy! They for some reason don't give me heartburn but the sage spice in a chicken pot pie I had the other day gave me heartburn like crazy!
