if so, how do you clean them? I use Orange Glow and it works really well, but not long after I clean the floor, it's all dirty again with foot prints and such!

I have wood floors, and use similar things, but like you gets dirty very fast! sorry i have no real advice, but hopefully someone can help us both out!!!
Yes! We do We have Cherry hardwood. I am curious to see the input from other Bumpies...we are too scared to try things on the floor because we just got them laid and refinished this past summer.
I will take a dry Swiffer cloth over them. DH and I wipe them down with water, too...on our hands and knees. He uses the wet cloth and I follow behind him drying! Haha. It is pretty funny!
I worry about products that will take the finish off...
I am curious too. I used Murphys with water for awhile but I was then told not to use water on them because it lets microscopic dirt particles to get in between the boards. I wanted to use Orange Glo and someone told me not to. THe last advice I heard was not to clean them at all! Just wipe them down. Ahhh so confusing.
GBCB- Leaving the bump in protest of the new changes. No privacy= no bump for me.
We use Bona on our floors. You get it at Bed Bath and Beyond. We have maple floors, but you can still see foot prints if you dont wear socks. Paw marks too.
I use my Swiffer Sweeper Vac for touch up cleaning and a wet Swiffer cloth if necessary. Every 3 weeks I mop with Murphy's oil soap, we have lighter colored oak floors.

I swear I sweep my floors at least twice a week! I also steam them once every 2 weeks. They're a pain to keep clean but they look so nice when they are!

Well, I swiffer over them EOD or so and clean once a week. Mine are original (our house was built in 1952!) and we LOVE them! We only have them in the LR and my Scrapbook Room. The hot water heater burst before we bought this house and ruined the floor in the master bath and hallway! It's so pretty though! They are really all different colors, which makes them so unique!

We have hardwood floors and I use the Shark Steam Mop on them about once a week or once every other week. It works great, I have been told using the different cleaners can cause damage to the wood over the years, how true is that? I have no idea...I am interested to see what everyone else says.

One of the best things we ever decided was no shoes in the house. We still have to clean our floors weekly with a dog and a toddler, but they rarely get very messy.
We use Bona on our floors. You get it at Bed Bath and Beyond. We have maple floors, but you can still see foot prints if you dont wear socks. Paw marks too.

I bought that after someone else suggested it and I was not the least bit impressed.

I LOVE my Shark Steam Mop! I was scared to use it in the LR because I didn't know exactly how much damage the steam can do to the floor! I use it in bathrooms and kitchen and it's amazing! I LOVE how it smells after it's clean!

We use Bona too. I really like it. I mop with Bona about once a week and vacuum (with the brush off) in between to pick up the dog hair and any dirt that's been tracked in. I also vacuum right before I mop with the Bona so I don't scratch the floors.

I vacuum every week and mop about every other week with Murphy's Oil Soap. I can't believe how badly the dog hair shows up on the wood floors. It's amazing that one little guy can shed SO much!
we have laminate/pergo flooring on our main level. i have to vacuum/swiffer wet mop almost daily if i don't want footprints/paw marks. so i usually have footprints/paw marks on my floors. once a month i mop with a combo of lysol all purpose cleaner and water. but i do the swiffer wet mop weekly. vacuum daily but that's because i have a Lab and lots of dog hair.
I use regular white vinegar & it works really well. It gives the floor a nice shine & footprints aren't much of an issue. Also the vinegar smell fades pretty quickly and its "green" cleaner so that's good too!
We have 1600 sq ft of 1940's original hardwood. They are going to be sanded and refinished this summer, so for now I guess I don't care. When we bought the house they were covered with this awful orange shag carpet that I ripped up before we even moved in. I sweep all the time. It doesn't matter. With 2 dogs I feel like the fight against muddy paw prints is a losing battle. I simply mop my floors with water and vinegar when I wash them. I use s p,e so,union for "pet accidents" (I have an old dog with bladder issues) I've been really considering a steam mop though, and you guys have me thinking about it again!

I fill a spray bottle full with 1/4 Murphy Oil Soap and the rest with water. Then (after vacuuming), I spray the floor "ahead" of me with the solution, the I use my Shark Vac-Mop steam cleaner. Love it.

this made me lol. we sweep at least twice a day.. messy kids and a cat!
We got a floor steamer as a wedding gift and I LOVE it! It definitely helps clean the floors (but as pp said you do need to wear socks or you will get footprints).
We have hard woods throughout our entire house that are original with the house (1950) I vacuum with the Shark UltraVac (I think thats what it is - light and easy to carry up and down stairs) and then use the Shark Steam Mop afterward. At some point mid week I usually use a dry mop/duster to pick up the cat and dog hair that accumulates. I've never used any products on the floors, as I just use water in the steam mop. Although I just read on a board that adding a bit of vinegar to the water helps if you have a "cloudy" look to the floors. I plan on trying that this weekend since we have some dry wall dust that seems to be linger on the floors and they haven't looked super clean lately!
I don't currently, but we are moving to a place that does at the end of next month! Thanks for posting this and giving me a good idea what to do with them...I hadn't even thought about it!

We have originals in part of our house from the 50's too! I love them but am constantly cleaning them. I use a steam mop - no chemicals to worry about with pets and kids, and it seems to work really well!

Interesting! I would be interested to hear if it helps to add a little vinegar! Do you by chance remember what board you read that on?

We have hardwood throughout our entire house minus slate in the kitchen and tile in the bathrooms. Once a week I vacuum the entire house from top to bottom, we have a Kirby that I'm in love with, and I finish by washing all the floors on hands and knees with Pine-sol and water. The house smells amazing and floors look great.
I use Bona hardwood floor products since our entire downstairs is wood flooring. It's eco-friendly, no harsh chemicals and while you might not get the sheen from other cleaners, I find that because you don't, you also don't get the residue that shows footprints as easily. Hope that help!

I'm pretty sure it was my local board..Upstate NY but now I can't remember if it was Nest or Bump because I lurk on both!
Yup, but ours are over a hundred years old and have been through a lot... carpet, vinyl, paint... They've now been stripped and refinished, but all of the dings/scratches/stains/nail marks/etc. (as well as just the aging of the wood to different tones) make them hide dirt really well
I just vacuum weekly and randomly mop them with CitraSolv and water when I get truly inspired on the cleaning-front.
