baby powder on their little ones when changing diapers? Didn't this use to be like a standard thing when we were children? I just never hear of anyone using it to soften their LO's tush.
From what I've read, it isn't recommended anymore b/c babies can inhale some of the powder dust. It's just one of those things like babies should only sleep on their back now... I'm pretty sure our parents put us on our stomachs often and with blankets and God knows what else in the crib
Lol I was given baby powder at my shower and put it in LOs room but didn't know what to use it for. Then he got a really bad rash and the dr had to prescribe some ointment for it, it was mostly clearing up but sometimes would look worse and that was when I realized what the purpose of baby powder was lol. I use it almost every diaper change now and he hasn't had a rash since. I don't really use it at night because I change his diaper with only a night light and I don't want to make a mess with the diaper powder.
If you're worried about LO inhaling like pp said, there is now liquid baby powder. I had some given to me at my shower I haven't used it yet so I can't say how well it works but just figured I would share that tid bit.

There are studies that show a link between the powder and athsma. It makes sense... if you aren't careful with it then baby can inhale it. I don't use it... never really had a need to. I don't like the way it smells and it makes a mess.

It's no longer considered safe.
