NBR - sad news

I live with my fiance and his parents

His mum just came and said that her uncle has died and is crying loads :-(

I only speak english and they?re all spanish so I can?t really say anything to try and make her feel better. My man is at work so he can?t say anything either (obviously he speaks both languages).

She?s really nice so it?s sad to see her upset even though I didn?t know her uncle

Re: NBR - sad news

  • Sympathy doesn't know language boundaries.  Make her a cup of tea and just be a comforting presence for her.

  • awww that's sad. sometimes words aren't needed. hug her or hold her hand. Lo siento means I'm sorry, but that's about all I can help with on the language barrier.
  • You don't have to speak the same language for her to know that you care and are there for her.  Just your kind actions will speak volumes.

  • Everyone laughs, cries, and loves in the same language.  Like a PP said, if you would like to bring her some comfort you can hold her hand, give her a hug, or prepare her a favorite comfort beverage/food for her.
