Anyone do grocery shopping at SuperTarget?

Hey ya'll.  Our neighborhood Target was recently converted into a Super Target, complete with groceries.  I got a coupon in the mail for a dozen free eggs, so I decided to try to do some grocery shopping in there.  Surprisingly, they have a lot of what I need.  My only complaint is that the produce section is absolutely tiny.  Does anyone else shop at a Super Target, and if so, do they have a reasonably sized produce section?  I'd like to do my grocery shopping there, as I love Target, and then I can other things like baby clothes, mommy clothes, and shoes while I'm grocery shopping.  Not great for our budget but fun for me. :)

Re: Anyone do grocery shopping at SuperTarget?

  • I think most (all) Targets were converted to have a grocery section, but they're not full groceries. I went in and picked up a few things the other day and love the convenience (it's right on my way home from work and easier than navigating HEB). I almost like that they don't have as much of a variety as it makes it easier to choose. That said, I'm picky when it comes to the staples and buy a lot of organics which they don't have. FWIW some Targets have a full grocery - I know The Super Super Target at Southpark Meadows is and I believe that there is another one up north - Parmer maybe? Their produce/meat/bakery sections are full size and they have much more variety.

  • I shop at the Super Target in Pf.  I have to say I don't buy ANY produce there any more....it always seems to be on its last leg, and even when it seems fine, it never keeps very long.  Beyond that, though, I don't have any complaints.  Most prices seem to be higher than (or close to) HEB prices, but I've found a few things that are much lower.  I try to only use it for quick trips when I only need a few items, because all the other stuff there tempts me too much.  Stick out tongue

  • I like them but the one by my house has terrible produce quality and their meat isn't very good either. I go but only when I need other household things and not to many groceries. Plus I think they are more expensive than HEB. Although they do take their coupons and manufactures coupons which is nice.

  • The one near my house doesn't seem to have as much variety as a "regular" grocery store, plus honestly I think their produce really sucks. It looks pretty, but I've gotten home and had brand new, nice looking things be like moldy on the inside.

  • As pp posters mentioned our Target doesn't move the produce often enough and the meat is eh.

For a few quick things Target's ok, but HEB is where we end up each week.

That's pretty much how I feel too, except replace the "eh" with Ick!  I'm probably way too paranoid, but something about buying meat from Target just seems wrong to me.

I have also found the prices to be higher on average than HEB.  I'll only pick stuff up in the grocery section if I'm there and need something anyway (like a gallon of milk or something), and if I spot a good deal on a staple.  They  had Annie's Cheddar Bunnies on for like $1.98 once, so I bought like four boxes.

  • I buy clementines from Target. 90% of the time they're cheaper than HEB.Other than that I stay away from their produce and meat section. I do buy other name brand grocery items from target like milk, eggs, cheese. Or anything else I can use double coupons on.
  • yeah, I love me some super target but not so much with the fresh stuff - unless it's one or two things.  I love the frozen section though - they have great frozen fish (the sun-dried tomato salmon pieces are yum) and they have those frozen herbs I mentioned a few weeks ago.  dorat is the brand, I believe.
