Does anyone know how bad it actually is to have sex before your 6 week postpartum check up? My boyfriend is going crazy. Also, how soon did you all start having sex again? Is foreplay and other things ok?

    I doubt that I will, but only because I tore and have stitches.  I'm terrified that if I do anything before getting the okay that I'm going to pop a stitch or something.  Plus, I'm still kind of sore, so I'm happy to wait.  I know a lot of people wait until the PP bleeding has stopped and then they have sex.  I don't know how bad it is, but I know people that have done it.  I'm sure foreplay/orgasms are fine..just not penetration.

    It's not necessarily about whether you tore and have stitches or not.  You have a large wound inside your ute from the placenta that could get infected from sex.  I believe other kinds of fun are ok though.

    Like PP said.  You don't know what the inside looks like and your cervix is still getting back to the way it was.  The cervix is one of those things that your body uses to keep bad things out.  I will not be having sex until the doctor says it is okay.  

    However, other things are okay... my boyfriend looked up butt sex wondering - more like hoping.

    DH and i had sex for the first time again at 3 1/2 weeks PP.  I had a very small first degree tear and my 2 stitches fell out about 9 days PP.  My bleeding stopped about 2 weeks PP.  We've had sex twice now and although scary at first, it wasn't painful and was actually quite enjoyable.  My WTEWYE book said OB's recommend waiting to have sex anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks PP.  My OB didn't give a specific order, so we went ahead.  I hope everything is ok at my 6 week PP checkup!

    i had sex like 3 days before my actual 6 weeks PP, and I haven't seen my OB to have her clear to have sex... but in my opinion I felt like I was ok to have sex, although I was sore the next day - no bleeding or any funky discharge . I recommend using condoms though just in case

    I am ready now! :) I did not tear so I have no stitches to worry about and I am feeling amazing for LO being less than 2 weeks old. I am in my pre-preg jeans and at my pre-preg weight. Although, I am amazed how good I feel, I will be waiting longer. I dont know how long but I'm trying to hold out until 6 weeks.

    I have been treating DH to oral sex daily (He has been nothing but amazing since I was put on bed rest last month, so he deserves it! I never thought I'd be able to love him anymore than before LO, but I do!) and he has not pressured me about sex...it's ME that wants to badly!! lol

    i had my PP checkup at 4 weeks. i had a 2nd degree episiotomy and i still had a stitch left when i went in for the exam (despite mrsjanks' horror story forever ago, i had to look and see what was going on down there).  i wanted to punch my lovely doctor in her face when she inserted two fingers. it was sooo sore still.  granted, she cleared me for sex at 6 weeks and since the stitch is gone i might go for it, but she recommended an extra 2 weeks for my own comfort and said whenever we do decide to go for it, use condoms and lots and lots of lube.  good luck!
