If you had pPROM, how soon after the membranes ruptured did you deliver?

I am currently 32w2d and my water broke 2 days ago. I am in the hospital on bedrest, receiving antibiotics, etc. My OB and the neonatologist would like to see me make it to 34 weeks.

If your water broke early, how early were you and how many days were you able to keep baby in before you delivered?

I'm not much help since we didn't try to stop labor but in retrospect I believe I had a slow leak for about a week before my water fully broke. Even then, I didn't have consistent contractions but since I was past 34 weeks they augmented my labor with pitocin and we delivered the next day. I know one bumpie kept LO cooking from, like, 26 weeks to 34 weeks or something amazing like that, so it can be done.

Was hoping to make it much longer...even up to 28 weeks, but little Isaac had other plans. He was born happy and healthy at 2lbs 5 oz and is now 17 lbs at 11 months. Good luck to you and your little one!!! Grow, baby grow!!

Hey there!

Baby born @ 34.5 weeks on March 20th. My water broke and I didnt go into labor, so I was induced 33 hrs later. The worry of infection meant antibiotics< but it sounds like your Doc is doing the right thing. Our little girl spent a required week in the NICU, but we are home and shes eating and growing without issue.

I actually started having contractions first (I had been bleeding for about 24 hours at that point) and then my water broke about a 1/2 hour after the contractions started. Once my water broke, I started hemorrhaging really badly and they made a decision within about 15 minutes (once they did an U/S and saw that I had no fluid left) to take Corri via c-section. She was born at 29w, 6d.

I ruptured and started leaking at 31 weeks, 1 day. I was hospitalized to receive antibiotics, terbutaline and steriod shots at that time. I was kept there on bedrest and they monitored my fluid levels. At 33 weeks, 2 days I got out of the hospital bed to go to the bathroom and my water broke completely. Labor came hard and fast from that point. I went from 2 cm to 8 cm in under 15 minutes. Dh almost didn't make it to the hopsital for the birth!

My water broke at 33w6d and the original plan was to induce if I didn't go into labor on my own within the next day or two (which I would have, I was already having contractions). However, they did a biophysical profile and the score came back 0/8, so then we went for an emergency C-section.

Oh no, I hope you keep your LO baking for as long as possible. I ruptured at 23w1d and made it to 34w0d but my doctor wouldn't let me go any further because of the risk of infection. So I kept him in for 80 days and he was in the NICU for 47 due to low fluid levels. If you deliver by 34 weeks chances are your baby won't be in the NICU (crosses fingers) for too long since you'll only be going 2 weeks with lower fluid levels. Mine ranged from a 1.1 mL my first week to anywhere between 4-7 (on a good week). Let me know if you have any questions. My water broke at 11 pm on a Sunday night, and DS was born at 8:30 Monday morning. But my OB didn't do anything to try to stop the labor. I was 32 weeks 2 days as well.

I ruptured at 20 weeks exactly. I went into labor 26 weeks to the day and had my twins via c-section 6 hours after my labor started.

My water broke at 30 weeks on the nose, and after hospital bedrest, I delievered at 32w 3 days - so I lasted 2 1/2 weeks.

I ruptured at 25 weeks and with bed rest both at home and in the hospital, made it to 30 weeks. We had to do a c-section then because I was bleeding LOTS and had rejected a blood transfusion.

My water broke at 35w4d at about 12:30AM and my DD was born at 12:26PM the same day. No pitocin - the rupture put my body into labor and I was far enough along that they didn't attempt to stop anything.

We were one of the lucky ones - no NICU time.

I ruptured at 24 weeks and delivered 2 weeks later. They told me that the most they would let me go was 34 weeks because of the risk of infection. I really thought I was going to make it, but at least I reached the "magical" 26 weeks that the doc wanted me to because it increased his chances of survival by much more. Hope LO stays in til week 34!

Water broke at 2am either due to labor starting or labor started immediately. Babies were here by noon and would have been sooner since I was completely dialated by 10am, but they had to get me in operating room and get everything set up. I asked to try to stop my labor but it didn't work.

My water broke 1230am monday. I was 33wks and 1 day. They tried to stop my contractions/labor with terbutiline, magnesium, and was given steroids for babies lungs. My contractions started to slow down and they thought I could try to hold out for a day or two. Also, they removed my cerclage and found I was 5cm dilated. I ended up delivering my son at 2pm.

Ruptured at 25 weeks and lasted for exactly one week on hospital bedrest. Annie was born at 1 lb. 13 oz but is now a healthy, 20 lb. bundle of mischief.

I ruptured at 34w3d and was induced from 35w2d to 35w3d when DD was born. I never went into labor and had no signs of going into labor any time soon. I hope you can hang on- This is a great website showing how women have gone 10++ weeks on bedrest after pprom- even to 37+ weeks!

I was 34 wks and they didn't try to stop my labor I had DS 6 hrs later. My friend had at 34 weeks and I think she was on bedrest in the hospital for 3 days.

I ruptured at 24 weeks 2 days with my daughter and delivered at 34 weeks when I was induced. My DD only spent 8 days in the nicu (no breathing problems even though she had no measurable fluid for so long.)

Baby A's membrane ruptured at 28 weeks 0 days officially (although I now realize it was most likely at 27 weeks and I thought I was peeing) and I made it until 32 weeks 0 days.
