Do you girls think its rude or totally okay to put the crib you want on the baby registry? The crib were looking at is 139.99 at Walmart?

  • We did not register for our furniture because my in-laws were kind enough to buy it for us. People put bassinets on their registry, why not a crib? Sounds like the one you want is a very reasonable price. I say go for it.

  • I voted no, but only because we got our crib on Craigslist. I see nothing wrong with adding it to your registry... That crib is less than most of the travel stroller systems out there!

  • I replied No, but that's because we already have our crib. If we didn't I'd put it on our registry. I have several other items on my registry that are more expensive than the crib you want.  A group of friends/family may go in on it together for you, if not you can use your registry completion coupon to buy it.

  • Thanks Ladies! DF was right, I just didn't want to come across as greedy by putting a crib on there. Appreciate the feed back!

  • I don't see anything wrong with putting furniture on the registry. You may luck out and have someone purchase it for you! But more than that, I think it's worth it for the completion discount.

  • I voted no.  I do have some "big ticket" items on there like a co-sleeper, stroller and breast pump.  I didn't feel comfortable including baby furniture and to be honest I feel like that's really our responsibility.

  • I answered no...

The first gift we received was our crib, purchased by my parents.  But if we didn't yet have it, I would definitely put it on there.  Sometimes you will have people wanting to go in together and make a big purchase.  Sometimes family members might want to be something extra special but aren't sure of your taste.  And of course, there's always the 10% off completion coupon!

  • We actually just bought our crib at buybuybaby so we didn't need to put it on our registry. We figured no one would want to pay that much anyways for a shower gift.

  • I don't have an issue with registering for one, especially one as affordable you like.  However, my DH has an issue with not being the one to purchase the big things for the baby.  Like he would feel like less of a man or something.  Guys are weird!

This! I would put it on there no matter what the price so you could get the discount yourself if no one bought it for you.

  • We didn't put it on our registry since we bought the furniture.  I did put some big ticket items on there like the stroller and pnp.

  • I said yes because I have a couple family members that are each going to get us a "big thing" for my shower. And whatever they don't get, I'll probably use the completion discount on.

  • I said yes even though my mom purchased it for us. I put in on there and then marked it as "Got It". I think it helps people see a bit of your style, which might help if they're picking things out for you. Of course, if they're purchasing from the registry it will be your style...I digress.

Oh and if she hadn't gotten it for us, we still would have had it on there for the completion discount!

  • I answered no, becasue we bought our furniture as well as our other "big ticket" items.
I don't see any reason you can't, at the very least you get the discount afterwards if no one buys it.

  • I voted no because we already purchased our crib. Even if we didn't purchase it yet I wouldn't because of the price - $1,100. I would if I were you though.

  • I do not think it is rude at all to put your crib on there.

    I totally agree with this.

  • I put yes. My IL's are getting the dresser and DH's Grandma is getting the crib. They told me to put it on the registry. That way they can get it. And I could get reward points for it.

  • we are lucky that my il's have offered to buy the baby furniture, but if they did not, we probably would have registered for it.  not that we would expect anyone to buy it, but so we could receive the discount when we completed our registry.
  • I voted no because my mother offered to buy it as soon as she found out I was pregnant (I am the only daughter). However, I did include a bassinet because even if no one buys it, hubby and I can get it at a discount (registry completion discount).

  • I didn't vote, but I think you have a resonable priced crib and it's actually cheaper than most travel systems.  I would put it on there.

We already have a crib from our first child and plan to use the same one.  My brother built our crib, so we were very lucky and didn't have to purchase one.  I just picked out a picture of one I like online and he designed it.

  • We didn't put ours on the registry because someone already offered to buy it for us.  However, I don't see anything wrong with including it on your registry, especially for the price of the one you're looking at.

  • I'm not, because we already have one. But if we didn't have one, I don't see why putting a crib on the reg is an issue.

If no one buys it for you, then you buy it yourself. Just being on a reg doesn't command someone to buy it for you.

  • Yes, it is ok to put on the registry.  More than 1 family member may go in together and purchase it.  I put mine on the registry, my mom bought it and shipped it to me right away.

We aren't b/c I want to get it prior to the shower and just feel like it is something that we should buy.  But... I see nothing wrong with it going on a registry.  You could even buy it after the baby is born (put LO in a PnP for a few weeks) and save some money.

  • I think it really depends on the price of the crib you want.  A swing, high chair, Pack 'n Play, and other things cost about as much as the crib you want, and you'd put those on your registry, so why not?  I probably wouldn't put a $500 crib on there, though.

I voted no because I don't think we are, but that doesn't mean I don't think you should.

  • I put the crib on our registry, and we plan to buy it within the next month or so (before our baby shower).  I don't expect anyone to buy it, but I wanted to get our crib chosen and know exactly which one we wanted and figured that by putting it on the registry I'd remember which one it was :)
Also, I planned on using the completion coupon, but a friend gave me a BRU coupon recently so I figure we'll just use that instead and get it sooner.
  • We didn't put any furniture on our registry.  My dad is building us a crib, and we are purchasing the rest of the furniture.  My in-laws may buy us a dresser or something.
