PSA Arms reach co-sleeper recall

FYI this was in my inbox at work this morning - we get all CPSC recall notices. Arms reach co-sleepers have had a limited recall - not the bed itself, but a reminder to use it properly on 2 models due to infant deaths. Basically it needs to be securely strapped to the bed and the liner used correctly. Link below, you can reprint instructions off of their website and request hard copy instructions be sent to you.

Re: PSA Arms reach co-sleeper recall

  • This release mentions no deaths or injuries. Where did you read that the recall is due to infant deaths? Also, people not snapping the liners and attaching it to the bed properly are morons.

Incidents/Injuries: CPSC and Arm's Reach have received 10 reports of infants falling from the raised mattress into the bottom of the sleeper or becoming entrapped between the edge of the mattress and the side of the bed-side sleeper. No injuries have been reported.

  • Internal memo mentions 2 episodes of suffocation. Not sure why it's not in the public link.

Most of our CPSC reports essentially say: Read the manual and follow directions, Idiots. Not in those words of course....

  • I checked this out further. There were NO deaths with the arm's reach. You should tell whoever writes the memos that they should make a correction. There were deaths with the simplicity bassinet.
