Basinette recomendations & incline sleeping ?'s

So next week is our tentative discharge date. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scarlette will be 5 months and one week old. She sleeps fine in her little crib at the hospital but I am not comfortable w/her sleeping in another room yet. I want her to sleep w/me but not in the bed b/c I'm afraid of rolling over on her.

I have heard mixed reviews about the arms reach co sleeper. And also, I know she has to sleep on an incline and I am wondering if any basinettes come this way b/c I can not find any :/

So what do you do? How do your babies sleep? Where? What basinette do you use? Why does this keep spell checking bassinet? <--Oh. That's why.

TY for your help!

Also....NEXT WEEK FOR REALS THIS TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Basinette recomendations & incline sleeping ?'s

  • Andrew slept in his crib from day 1 (elevated and with a sleep wedge on his side, but that is no longer recommended) and did well. I saw this in a magazine and thought he would have loved that for his reflux. A friend has one and really likes it. It's a reasonable price and portable too!

  • First of all, I hope everything goes as planned for you next week! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you :) Our Alexandra has been home with us for almost 4 weeks and has slept in our room every night. This is going to sound so silly but she sleeps in the bassinet part of our pack and play in her bouncer chair! She has bad reflux on her back to the point where she has stopped breathing a few times so we are keeping her in this for the time being. Her ped just prescribed prevacid this afternoon to try and control it so hopefully this will help get her in a regular sleeping position soon. Our DD#1 also had to sleep at an incline so we just put a small pillow or blanket under her mattress to just give it a slight incline. It took a bit of experimenting but worked like a charm when all was said and done. Good luck on your search and I am sure you will find what is right for Scarlette soon!

We have this but Alexandra kept sliding to the bottom of it because she wasn't big enough to fit. (4.4 lbs) It is a great product and she will sleep in this when she is just a little bigger and need to travel for Easter. I would just be weary if you have a LO who is smaller because it may not be the best fit right off.

oh dang! I didn't think of that because my 26 weeker had a long stay and came home at a whooping 8.5 lbs (3 weeks after his due date) :)

  • We used the Arms Reach Co Sleeper and loved it, although I really want the RnP (that pp linked) for #2. The mattress part lifts up, so you could put a blanket or something underneath it to elevate one end. I'm not sure how much it needs to be elevated since DD didn't need it, though.

    And YAY for Scarlette!

  • Big Congrats!

Honestly, for the first couple months home, the only place Annabelle could comfortably sleep at night was on our chests. We took shifts laying on the couch. Eventually, she accepted a tight swaddle and an inclined mattress (just a bed pillow propped up under one side).

  • I hope everything goes as planned and that you will be home next week! We had a little bassinet next to our bed and used that until he reached the maximum weight for it which I believe was 15lbs. We just stacked books on one end of it for the incline and it worked well for DS. By the time he was big enough for the crib, the incline factor wasn't a problem anymore.

  • ditto on the rock n play. DD started to sleep in that at around 5 lbs. She still sleeps in it now at 14 lbs. They also came out with all new colors and designs that are very cute

  • Hi! Sending good thoughts and prayers for discharge next week. We were in the hospital with ds for 4 1/2 months. We put the crib in our room and my husband drilled a couple holes higher up on one end for the springs and thats how we elevated it.

DS has had reflux issues so we have also just ordered the Nap Nanny which has awesome reviews. You can find it on Amazon. We didn't feel the need for a bassinet because he was all ready in an open air crib which was bigger than a bassinet. Good luck!

  • thanks everyone!! i appreciate it!
