I feel so stupid...

Obviously, I am a first time mother.  I really can't tell the difference between the little miss sticking her butt out or another limb against my tummy or a BH.

Anyone else having this issue?

Any advice?

  • I'm not a FTM and I still can't sort bottom from top. No worries. :)

  • I feel her kick and move all the time. In fact, sometimes I will get a huge, hard bulge really low and I imagine she is curling up right there. However, I never know what body part is moving around or if that is her head or leg in the corner of my ute... I have NO IDEA!

ETA: And I don't *think* I have had BH, but again, I am not sure..

    I agree!

Though a BH is where your entire tummy gets tight before it relaxes.

  • Don't feel stupid - I can't sort out what's what. I just know a hard lump in one spot is some part of the baby. And the various kicks and thumps and movement I feel all over.

  • Don't feel bad; I have NO IDEA what's going on in there, but I think all movement is good movement Smile It sometimes feels like there is a Rave happening all night!

  • It's totally normal!

So much so that when people say, "I felt X body part." I think they're guessing half the time anyways. :)

This is my second kid and a good share of the time I feel baby but have no idea what part it is.

Also, I don't think I ever had BH in my first pregnancy but I could just be oblivious. I think I felt them a time or two this time but I don't really know.

I just assume that unless it hurts or makes me really uncomfortable, I don't read too much into anything.

  • I asked a similar question the other night, I guess you just have to compare the sizes of head/butt to limb and guess from there.  I don't know if you can really tell head from butt.

I was guessing it was a head I was feeling the other night and at my appointment today, the OB did some feeling around and said it probably was.   Other than that...I don't know!  I've only felt his little head that one time!
