I know this has been asked before, the Bump's search function sucks, etc.
Poor DS has a huge scaly patch on his cheek. I started to use Aveeno, it went away. It came back. Aveeno didn't work anymore. I used Aquaphor. It went away. It came back. Aquaphor doesn't work anymore. WTF??
How do you handle eczema?
Re: Overasked Question Alert - Talk to me about eczema!
If your LO is prone to eczema there's no real way to keep it from coming back.
I just try not to over-bathe him (he gets a bath once a week) and if the eczema looks pink or irritated, I put a dab of hydrocortisone cream on it (just got it off the shelf at the drug store). It calms it right down and makes sure he's not getting itchy.
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

Greyson has it all over his body. but thanks to a few products his skin is in great condition and we can manage his eczema.
we put these in his bath water:
https://www.amazon.com/Aveeno-Relief-Treatment-3-Count-Packets/dp/B001E96LBI
https://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=aveeno+bath+oatmeal&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=6050967004058725589&sa=X&ei=gpucTZfHIIjYgQe97oCdBw&ved=0CDgQ8wIwBA#
And we use Aveeno lotion on him everyday. Once in the late morning and always after his bath.
Aveeno and Cetaphil didn't work for us...Vaseline did! I just grease DS up with plain ol' Vaseline in the morning and before bed at night and his rashes went away almost instantly. It's amazing. It keeps the skin's moisture from evaporating out.
We also bathe him 3x a week in lukewarm water using only a Dove Sensitive beauty bar rather than any liquid or baby soap. Our pedi said the liquid soaps (even J&J and Aveeno) have ingredients that can actually dry out skin more.
He's growing up, but he'll always be my baby!

...big brother to...???? Due March 2014!
Most of the stuff we tried didn't work at all (Aveeno eczema lotion, Aquaphor, etc.) but hydrocortisone ointment worked instantly. We needed a prescription for a recent bad flareup, so go to your dr. if his eczema isn't responding to any at-home treatments.
The last time we went to the Dr I was going to ask. But then his eczema wasn't very bad that day, so I totally forgot. I'm going to try the hydrocortisone cream next, I think.
Thanks for all your help, ladies!
This has worked wonders for us. We started using the "three minute rule" on Saturday, and by Tuesday DS's skin was almost clear. Even the nasty patch on his scalp that has been there for 5 weeks.
