From laying down to sitting up position?

When should they be able to do this without help?  My DD cannot do this on her own without using the crib rails and/or some other thing to pull herself up.  When I lay her down on the floor, she will try to pull herself up to a sitting position but can't do it, so she gets very frustrated....just curious if others are doing this or if that is something that typically comes later....

    Kate just mastered the stomach/ crawling position to sit up back to crawling thing this week.

    How long has your baby been crawling?

    Kate figured this out a maybe 2 weeks after she really started crawling.

    H still can't sit up on his own & has been crawling for at least 2 months already. I can put him sitting & he stays up just fine just doesn't have the strength yet to get up on his own.

    Logan can almost do this. He's crawling around like a maniac, and can get from laying flat, up onto all fours, then sit down on his bum. The only think is that he can't quite push himself up off his arm up to sitting up, so he sits on his bum, with one arm balancing him. He just started crawling proficiently last Monday (March 28th).

    If we put him down in the sitting position, he can sit straight up for hours if he wanted to.

    I'm sure it will come soon!

    My DD just started getting herself from laying down (on her back) to a sitting up position.  We saw it for the first time yesterday.  She rolls to her side and then pushes herself up off the floor.  She is not crawling yet.

    DS didn't really get this until he was crawling on all fours which was right at 7 months.  Then it seemed to happen overnight.

    There are several steps in between for Ky I am sure of it...I guess I jsut never paid attention. When she first started army crawling (about two months ago) is when she started doing it and at that time she would push herself up onto her hands and tippy toes asnd then lean back until she hit her butt with her legs spread...so funny to watch! Now I am not sure how she does it but I know she can
