Sleep Book by Dr. Ferber

Has anyone heard about the book, Solve your Child's Sleep Problems by Dr. Richard Ferber? He is from Newton, Ma. 2 of my friends swear by the book. I just added it to my registry.

Re: Sleep Book by Dr. Ferber

  • I have a two month old and have been researching all the sleep methods. I find this the hardest, since you are supposed to leave your kid to cry it out. I am not sure about you, but I could not do it. I am trying other sleep books and they work with my baby better. I remmond to wait and see how your baby is and then pick a book to use. You sh ould not start a sleep traying before 4 months old, so you have plenty of time. GOOD LUCK!

  • I've heard good things about Ferberizing, but I know not every baby is the same.  We're going to look into this as soon as Sami gets over this bought of teething...

  • I Ferbered both of my sons.  If I could meet Dr. Ferber, I would give him the biggest hug ever!  The method worked perfectly and both of my kids are amazing sleepers!
  • I read it and was uncomfortable applying the techniques until my babies were much older.  It's good to check out a variety of methods and see what's best for you.  You might want to check out Dr. Sears' website.  I think it's askdrsears.com).  He presents sort of the anti-Ferber method.

ditto, it worked wonders for my son when nothing else did.  it seems like a horrible thing to do, but you are teaching them to self soothe and they need to learn that. we didnt' try the first time til he was 6months old and we weren't ready emotionally... 4 more months of no sleep and we HAD to do it.  worked great!!
