I was induced at 34wks with my son after 4wks of hospital bed rest. once again my BP is already out of whack and I am preparing for the same happening w/ #2. just curious what the earliest is that you've ever heard/seen someone w/ pre-e being induced. I am so scared about having to have it happen much sooner this time around since i'm only 11wks and they've had to increase my BP meds already. 34wks was scary enough, i can't even wrap my head around a micro preemie.
thanks ladies!
Re: pre-e ladies who were induced
I had the EXACT same problem. 4 weeks hospital bedrest (I also had GD) then an induction when my protein was 3800 and I began having a headache. We were 34 weeks and 2 days.
My ob said be prepared for going in even sooner and having the baby even sooner.
I hope they can get yours under control and if I were you I'd barely get off the couch to pee even now. The more you rest the better it helps.
We chose to end our family after the lo was born. He was number 5 so it was an easy decision.
Good Luck!
I answered you on the High-risk board too.
I was not induced because of the pre-e and gestational age. I was in the hossy @ 23weeks. my kidneys shutdown so I was emergency c-section at 23,6. I was told about it at 8 am and in surgery at 9:45am.
Again I hope it stays away. But if it does show up I hope you are like the statistics for the prior pre-e of the third trimester and you get it way later and less severe.
I already asked but have you seen a Peri?
I did not put this in my other post but I am on Labetalol 500mg twicw a day. They skipped over the aldomet this time around.
thanks for the responses ladies. nope, no peri, my ob's' office has one on consult from one of the best hospitals in boston, so i hope to meet w/ him soon. I also asked about the Lebatol, he said that is next after i max out the Aldomet.
Glad you can meet with a peri. I also was told by the peri to take 1 low dose asprin per day but the asprin studies show to really only benefit those who's pre-e was 2nd trimester BUT I would ask the Peri about it anyway maybe. Aldomet is a class B so it is tested as "safer" than Labetalol (class C). I was put on that because my OB and Peri mentioned a couple of new "thoughts" in the med community is it possibly controls the bp ups and downs a little better for ladies who have pre existing hypertension and who have had pre-e before. It is something to maybe research or ask about BUT if aldomet is working good for you and your OB prefers it then again it is the class B med so that great.
Again hope this pregnancy goes better for you and LO.
Sorry I misspelled Labetalol.
I wasn't induced but I was sectioned at 32 weeks. The doctor said sometimes they like to induce but my bp was over 160/110, my cervix was closed tight, and I wasn't having contractions. They tried bringing my bp down with Labetalol, I maxed that out and my protein was 6000 and as soon as those results came in they decided it was time to go.
I hope that everything works out and they are able to find a good way to control your blood pressure. I was on a combo of labetalol and procardia after I delivered - is there some combo of meds they could give you to help?
Good luck with everything.
According to my 2 different teams of doctors that I had with my son (one set in TX and one set in FL), if you had severe pre-e with the 1st your chances of having it with #2 are over 60%, buuuuuut it should be less severe and later in your pregnancy. My DD was born at 26 weeks and DS was born 11 months later at 35 weeks. My BP didn't start going up until week 30, so my MFM put me on Aldomet. He also put me on low-dose aspirin and mega doses of folic acid once a day, starting at 27 weeks until 3 days before I had my c-section. my main recommendations would be to see the MFM and buy an at home BP moniter and check you BP once a day. Good luck! At least this time you know what to look for and you can be vigilant! I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months!
I was scheduled to be induced at 33w 4d but my body had other plans. I received one shot of steroids before my water broke and I delivered her 12 hours later.
I had a friend who had b/p issues throughout her pregnancy and they adjusted her bp meds a lot, but she made it to 38 weeks. Hang in there.
I'm a Boston gal too! I was induced with my first son at 31 weeks due to severe pre-e. Hospitalized, they gave me steroids and mag and 48 hours later he was born. My second son was born via emergency c-section at 29 weeks 5 days due to pre-e and HELLP. I wish you an uneventful and happy and healthy pregnancy!
I was induced at 34w5d due to pre-e. My doctor has me taking baby aspirin and extra folic acid just as a precaution even though she doesn't think I'll have any issues this time. As of my doctor appt on Friday, my BP was so low I was "barely alive" as joked by my nurse.
I really hope your BP stays down and you can keep that baby cooking to full term!
