Placenta Previa

SO I went to the Dr today and the ultrasound showed that I have complete placenta previa.  :( Does anyone else have this?

Re: Placenta Previa

  • I don't have it (and didn't first time around either)...

But I have had several friends that have and in all of the cases, it resolved on it's own.  I think they just had to be monitored more closely.

  • I had it with my last pregnancy.  I had spotting sporadically and had to have a c section.

I was also put on modified bed rest, primarily because I was spotting and my OB did not want me doing anything strenuous. I could leave the house and whatever, but could not work (I taught preschool) or do any heavy lifting, moving stuff etc.

Let me know if you have any other questions.  I don't want to scare you - it really can be fine as long as you are monitored by your Dr.  And there is a chance that it may correct itself.

  • I had partial placenta previa when i was pregnant with DD, and it resolved it self by 28 weeks!  GL I hope the same happens for you!

  • At my U/S yesterday baby looked gtreat, but DR. said I had a low lying placenta.  She said in 85% of the cases it corrects on its own.  Keep an eye out for any blood and let the dr. know if you see any asap.  I'm hoping to corrects on its own.  From what I've read and heard in most cases if it doesn't improve you end up with a scheduled c-section before 40 weeks.
