I am from central IN and we call it cornhole. When I moved to southern IL they call it bags. They all make fun of us for calling it cornhole and think we are crazy. I am surprised that everyone on here (so far) calls it cornhole.

Bean bag toss?? I have only seen it played at carnivals not as a family activity, but we do play that one game with the golf balls on strings that you try to wrap around the bars. I don't know if that made sense but similar type of game

You would like this game then. We call that game hillbilly golf in central IN. In southern IL they call it ladder golf.

Bean bag toss. Where does the name cornhole come from? (almost afraid to ask)
Us rednecks make our own 'bean bags' for the game, but they aren't filled with beans they are filled with dried corn, hence the corn going into the hole.

Haha, I knew I was not the only one!
I don't know but DH is from Chicagoland and it's a staple at any function you can possibly think of.
Damn midwesterners!
