I dont use sunscreen. I have a dark complexion, avoid going out in the sun for prolonged periods and have never had a burn. On friday, we had dd out all morning because we had painters in the house and a block garage sale. The day started out cloudy and cool and turned warm and sunny by afternoon. Dd had socks in but at the end of the day her foot was warm and red. DH thought ut was a slight sunburn.

I got the neutrogena sun block stick but I'm unsure WHEN to use it. Everyday we go out? Only if we are outdoors for a significant time (like not just walking across a parking lot). Do I put it on right before leaving the house? Do I need to reapply? How do you get the stick to go on evenly? Is the a lotion type brand that is good?

Re: How do you use baby sunscreen?
If she's going out in the sun, I put it on her. Not for just everyday errands... but a trip to the park, playing in the backyard, going swimming, etc. If she's going to be outside for any length of time, she's gotta have it. And, I reapply a lot. She's so fair, I'm just always worried about a sunburn. But, so far, she's never had one.
And, I'm allergic to most sunscreens, so I hate having to do it. Makes me hive up. But, it has to be done.
This is the same for us! Both kids are super fair, and I am paranoid about sunburns. We use neutrogena baby, SPF 50, and just the regular lotion. I had trouble with the stick, too. With the lotion, I know what I have covered. I know that it is not as "green" or chemical free as others, but we tried Blue Lizard and DS got a rash from it. He did fine with neutrogena, so we stuck with that.
Agreed. I use the Aveeno baby lotion. He has broken out with others, but Aveeno seems sensitive enough. I also apply if we are out for a long time, he plays in water, stuff like that.
