Toddlers: 24 Months+

Onesies or T-Shirts for toddlers

I'm usually on the pregnant after 35 board (this is my first baby) so I am reaching out to you because I recently had my baby shower and received so many newborn and 0-3 month onesies and t-shirts.  I just heard that I'm having another shower and was asked to update my registry to reflect 'older' size clothing.  Just wondering in your opinion which makes since if I'm planning to add 12, 18 and 24 month clothing size, Onesies or T-shirts?  Did you find one worked better than the other?  TIA

Re: Onesies or T-Shirts for toddlers

  • Tshirts for sure! By that age DS was to long to fit in onesie, and they are so active that having to deal with buttons during a diaper change is a headache for you and them!

  • We stopped using onesies around 18 months or so.
  • I agree for t-shirts, especially around the time you'll be potty training (if around 2).

I think DD was in almost all tshirts by the time she was 2 (she's small so was in 18 month size clothes around that time).

  • T-shirts.  DD stopped wearing onsies around 12 months, when she was wearing 18 month shirts.

  • T shirts for sure. I did some onesies from 1-2 in the winter only but by the time we started potty training t shirts are easy to get pants down quickly.

  • LOL- I'll dissent my LOs are 20 months and wear sizes 18-24 months and I still put long sleeve onesies under their pjs and will continue to  until I run out of sizes.  I like on my girls the look of a onesie with pants, but on DS I like the more billowy tees.  Aside from bedtime, he stopped wearing onesie outfits around one/size 12 months.  I have no problem putting DD in a onesie.  My kids wear cloth diapers and I think because they're bigger and bulkier, the onesie helps contain the diaper a little.
