21 weeks butt pressure after short walk

I just took our dog for a short walk in the neighborhood and on my way back I got this weird pain/pressure in my butt. I guess its weird to explain but has anyone else experienced this? what is it? Should I be worried/call the doc?

Its gone now that im home.

Re: 21 weeks butt pressure after short walk

  • Hm... if the pain is on the outside, kind of along your upper buttock/near the butt-crack.... it may be your sacroiliac joint. The ligaments there get really lax as the pregnancy progresses and can cause a lot of discomfort and soreness.

Resting with your feet elevated (i.e recliner) for a bit may help if thats the case. Unfortunatley, there isn't too much to do about it. A sacroiliac belt can help (ask the doc about it) and also try not to walk on really uneven surfaces, and don't skip steps. Also, don't twist while lifting or getting in/out of the car.

If the pain spreads, intensifies, or starts to tingle down the leg, it might not be a bad idea to ask the doc. Either way, mention it to him/her.

If the pain is actually INSIDE your butt like your post kind of suggests... if it persists or worsens I'd definitely talk to the doc

Hope this helps... its kind of my area of interest:)

  • If it starts in your cheek and moves down your leg, a little sharp, its most likely your sciatic nerve.  With DD, it happened from about 20 weeks thru the end of my pregnancy, and its pretty much doing the same now...not much you can do, but some local heat, and lay with your feet up.  Good luck!
