Is anyone still doing everything they have always done?

Wow, that title is a mouthful.

There have been a couple posts, like the one below, "are you still cooking dinner".  There was another one about household chores I think.  And they make me wonder, am I doing too much?

I am uncomfortable all the time, I definately walk slower than I used too and am out of breath easy.  But nothing has changed for me in my life.  I still clean the house as much as I used too, still make dinner every night. Still grocery shop weekly, still hit the malls on the weekends.   I haven't stopped anything or slowed down on anything.  Am I crazy?

Just wondering if anyone elses lifestyle hasn't changed (yet, lol).

I'm doing the things I've been doing all pregnancy.  There are some cleaners I stopped using once I got pregnant (the smell bothers me too much), and there are things I've haven't done since getting larger (too uncomfortable to clean in tight spaces, etc).  But for the most part, it's the same.  I clean, I cook, I shop.  I do take more breaks.

  • I think I'm doing about the same as I did before,  just at a slower pace.    I'm still doing the majority of the house work (cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, laundry).

I'm still traveling for work, although Friday is my last day so that will put an end to that.  I probably won't go anywhere else that is more than an hour away until after the baby is born.   Sitting in a car for too long just isn't comfortable.

My lifestyle doesn't seem like it's changed much.  The only thing is that if I'm having a night at home, I'm usually passed out on the couch by 9pm.

  • Cleaning hasn't been as thorough as its always been but yep, I am still doing everything I used to do.

  • The only thing that I don't do now that I used to do before being pregnant is clean the litter box.  Oh wait, that is a lie.  I have DH clean the tub more often than I do simply because our tub is a jetted tub and much higher than the normal tub, my belly gets in the way and earlier in pregnancy, the cleaner bothered me.

other than that, I clean, cook, do laundry and all the other stuff I used to.

  • My cleaning isn't exactly up to pre-pregnancy par...but for the most part, I'm still doing everything I used to.

I have to...my kids aren't ones to just sit around and nap.

  • Day-to-day stuff I'm still fine doing: cooking, laundry, cleaning, working, walking, etc.

I've cut back my workouts since about 30 weeks. I just wasn't feeling the weightlifting. I'm moving to more swimming and yoga.

It probably helps that I'm uncomfortable, but I'm not in pain. I'm not disabled. There's no reason to burn up all my good will and favours before the baby shows up.

  • I get tired easier and put things off longer than I normally would. But in the end everything that needs to be done is still done by me.

Yes, I'm still doing everything I have always done. The only exception would be my workouts aren't as intense. I'm still doing 4-5 miles on the treadmill 5 days a week but not at as fast of a pace. Cleaning, shopping, groceries, cooking, laundry, etc., haven't changed.

  • I am still doing all of the same things as always.  I may be doing even more since my 'nesting' hasn't totally disappeared just yet!  I really wish that would stay with me since my house was spotless for like a month, now I am just trying to keep it up!

  • MY doc made me quit Teaching Breakdance last week. But until then was still standing on my head, jumping, etc. Now (36 weeks) I am still working 2 jobs, and cleaning, cooking, shopping, etc. I'm just a little slower and a little uncomfortable. DH has helped but we both work multiple jobs and are trying to get everything in before the baby is here! :)

If your comfy doing your normal routine DO IT!! But if you need a break don't be afraid to ask for  hand! :)

  • I'm still doing everything I always did, it just takes me longer to do everything, or I need some help (washing dog, moving furniture to vacuum).
  • Everything I used to do has stayed the same in my life except for the intensity of my workouts.  I still exercise over an hour each day, but it's nowhere near the intensity of the triathlon and P90X workouts that I was doing pre-pregnancy.  I've felt great and (knock on wood) I'm not even that uncomfortable yet.  Nothing about regular day to day activities, chores, or anything else has changed. If only I can keep this up for another 7 weeks, lol.
  • I have been doing everything I was doing before getting pregnant (unless I had doctor's orders which I have been on and off the whole pregnancy.)

I am a SAHM, so even on modified bed rest, I don't have much choice but to be the one doing the cooking, cleaning, watching DS, and 99% of the shopping. I can't vacuum now, but I still pick up and as long as my meal prep stays under 30 mins, I do all the cooking. I have no choice in the matter, if I don't do it, it won't get done. DH works 60+ hours a week and we have no family here.

The only thing I stopped doing the moment I got KU was cleaning the cat box.

Listen to your body, take breaks, and suck it up is my motto! If I had the choice, I'd be doing nothing, but I don't get that luxury. Plus I am pregnant, not disabled! :)

  • Yup, there's no other way in my life! I SAH full time, my DH works a lot and we have zero family here. What else is there to do?

  • I've stopped carrying the laundry up and down the stairs. I'm having trouble navigating the baskets and pulling my giant a$$ up and down. I also ask DH to carry the vacuum up the stairs for me. With my SPD, I have trouble with stairs in general so I'm avoiding carrying large, heavy items. Although I just carried DS down stairs so its not a hard and fast rule.

  • I still do the cooking, cleaning and necessary shopping. I have stopped carrying the vacuum cleaner up and down the stairs, cleaning the high parts of the shower that require balancing on the side of the tub, wandering around stores or the mall for fun (my sciatica and plantar fasciitis sapped the fun out of that), shaving my legs but maybe once a week, and have dropped many parts of my workout routine.

  • I still take DS out everyday (to classes, playdates, lunch dates, etc...). I pick up but am thrilled to have a cleaning service coming tomorrow.

I am unable to go shopping anymore. My back gives out on me when I stand too long.

  • I'm still doing the same things I always have, just at a slower pace.  I get out of breath very easily now, and activity usually leads to BH, so it's more tedious to get things done.  But I'm still taking classes, still working, still volunteering, and am now nesting at home!

  • Still the same with the exception of intense workouts. I have a 2 year old and 1 year old and very little family support...life does not stop for me.

  • I have my husband carry the laundry up the stairs but that is only because I still am lazy like I was pre-pregnancy and only do it once a week so it is overflowing.  If I made smaller trips/loads I'd feel comfortable doing it but the last time I carried a large/normal load for us. I almost fell down.

  • Until today I was doing everything I was before, just not as often. I kind of gave myself the rule of 3- I had to do three things a night.

Laundry, walk the dog, cook dinner, work on thank you notes, clean the bathroom, ....etc.... but only 3.

  • Yup, still doing everything including cooking everyday as I have a toddler at home and have to make fresh meals everyday for her. But just like the others mentioned I am doing it at a slower pace and ofcourse each task makes me more exhausted than ever before! I am a SAHM and even though I could probably get a maid to help me occasionally I feel guilty about spending money to do things I still can manage to do. Laundry is a bit of challenge as I have to climb two sets of staircases all the way to the basement and it seems like a lot of weight to carry up/down. So, hubby helps whenever he can but he hardly has any time btwn work/school and sometimes laundry overflows on to the bedroom floor, that I have no choice but to suck it up and walk down 2 levels of stairs!!

  • I do light daily cleaning

But in general i still do our small bathroom/showertub combo once a week

Dishes are making my back hurt so dh is more less taking that over

Cooking i still do but the meals are more simple than usual

    Laundry i still do

My midwife says after i have baby i should have 2 weeks of focusing on just me and baby and get help to do things around the house.

  • I am still doing the same around the house, just slower and being super careful when going up the stairs carrying something. I am not working anymore but that is because we moved.

  • I'm still doing everything that I would be doing if not pregnant (and not married). I'm living away right now for work, so I do my own laundry, cooking, and shopping. Like you said, it's more uncomfortable and a bit slower, but that's it.
