Update (from doc appt to hospital)

I get to go home today!  Yippie.  I just have to wait until the 2nd injection of the steroid.  My blood pressure is super stable.  They increased my medication and they hope that will keep it under control for a while.  They also shared that my 24 urine results are pretty stable as well.  The amount of protein has not increased that much.  Yay!  So by late afternoon I'll be blowing this popsicle stand.  The only thing I'm waiting for clarity on is if I'm going to be on placed on bed rest or not.  My regular doctor visited me this morning and said that I would be but the Nurse Practitioner with the specialist group said that I could return to work but just be careful and monitor my blood pressure twice a day.  So we'll see.

Thanks again for all the T&Ps and support.  You are so greatly appreciated!

  • Oh, what great news! I am so glad they were able to get your blood pressure under control.

Hopefully you won't have to go on bed rest but if you do, at least it won't be at the hospital.

  • Great news!!!

If you don't mind me asking, what was your BP before you went in? I clocked 140/88 a the OB's office yesterday, and am up to weekly appts (with protein check), but so far, no mention of bedrest.

148/100.  It was that along with the 4lb weight gain in one week.  I was retaining a lot of fluid.  But it looks like you're doctor is following the same protocol as mine.  As soon as mine started going up consistently she moved me to weekly appointments as well and had me do the 24 hour urine capture.  Are you on any meds for hypertension?  Your doctor may just end up treating it with a low dose medication.  I hope your bp doesn't continue to go up because it's a pain in the butt.  Let me know if you need anything or just to talk.  :)

    Thanks :)

I've never taken meds for high BP. I take it there are some "safe for PG" meds? Did your dr say at which point they'd move you to the meds, or are you already on them now?

I did the 24 hour about 4 weeks ago, but not since then (it came out clean). I'm thinking that when they do take my urine every other week, they'll check the protein level against the "clean" sample? I did have a jump in weight gain...2 pounds between Thursday-Monday. But then, I lost 2 pounds last night.

I have an u/s at the MFM next week, and then a regular check at the OB the week after that...so I imagine that if there's a change, then he'll tackle it then.
