okay so I haven't been feeding DS very much baby food the past few weeks. He's just not interested in it most of the time and I don't know how to get him to eat it. Since I can't just hand it over to the hubby, I get frustrated, sign "all done", and clean everything up. Some days he doesn't get baby food at all, just bottles. Is this bad for his health? I'm not worried about it stunting his growth (he's in 12-18mo clothes), but I do wonder if I'm making a huge misstep here. he's about 7 1/2 months, do I need to be giving him baby food like twice a day? three times a day?
Re: solids: feeling guilty, must confess, and ?s
Did your pediatrician give you any guidelines as to what you he should be eating by now?
Here is a sample for 6-9 months that was given to me by my pediatrician
Breakfast: 1/2 cup cereal, 2-4 oz fruit
Lunch: 1/2 cup cereal, 2-4oz vegetable
Dinner: 2oz. meat, 2-4oz. vegetable and 2-4oz. fruit
Jake certainly doesn't eat this much, I wouldn't worry about stunting his growth, but can you talk to your ped. to see why he isn't eating? Maybe mix the fruit and cereal?
We only do two meals a day, and he gets 4 bottles.
Logan doesn't really like the purees, and he HATES being fed; he wants to do it himself.
Maybe try just giving him some soft finger foods (french toast, little pieces of steamed veggies, etc); we have way more success this way.
It's true that it becomes messy, but SOME does get into his mouth and he loves having control over it.
Another thing we do (on a Bumpie suggestion) is give him his own spoon to hold, which distracts him, then I get the food in while he's distracted.
GL! I'm sure it will be fine!
Have you tried finger foods? Maybe that will help.
At this stage, most nutrition comes from bm/formula, so I think it's okay if your LO doesn't always eat solids. Gavin goes through phases where he doesn't want to eat much at all, but still takes in plenty of breastmilk. Keep offering foods, hope your LO takes to them soon.

Aww, thanks! Your bebe is a cutie, too. Those cheeks!
Yeah...that seems like a lot of food. DS gets two meals about 3 oz. of fruit with oatmeal mixed in in the morning. For dinner he gets two veggies (sweet potatoes and peas this week) totaling about 4-5oz. He still nurses on demand and eats 3-4 4-5 oz. BM bottles while I'm at work.
All of this.
That is an INSANE amount of food for a baby!
