TTC after 35

Update to low hcg...

So, I posted the other week that I had a BFP, but my HCG didn't double and my progesterone was low.

I decided not to ask for another beta because if the number was still going up - but not doubling- I wouldn't have any more info than what I already had.

Anyway - last Thursday I knew I lost the pregnancy - the minor symptoms I had were gone and I just felt different.  I started bleeding on Saturday (of course it was my DD's 2nd birthday party).  I will see the OB Friday (I didn't need to go any earlier - this being the 3rd mc since October, I know everything is fine).

So I am hoping my body bounces back to a normal cycle next month becasue after my last mc I never returned to a normal cycle.

Anyway - I keep getting pregnant, but not sticking.  Anyone have advice on a direction I can go?  I thought about asking the OB to put me on Fertility drug to try to give my body more chances each month.  I don't know if that is the best idea, but it is the only one I have right now.  Any other ideas? (I can't afford PGD)

Thanks for all your thoughts and hopefully my next BFP will be a good egg!!!

  • Pomegranate juice can help to thicken your lining which would help with implantation. If you don?t like the flavor, try adding some sparkling water.  Drink 8oz of juice a day from CD1-O.  You can drink it past ovulation, but it won?t impact your lining at that point.

Pineapple core (Bromelain) can help with implantation.  Eat 1/5 of the core from O - 5dpo, but not longer.  Not a ton of people do this, but you can try if you want to.  It's better if you make it into a smoothie.

Avoid Advil/Motrin (NSAIDs) when you are ttc, they can impact implantation.

  • If I were you, I would request to have a Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Panel completted by a specialist. They look at immunity, autoimmune function, thyroid, anatomical, chromosomal (including a karyotype of you and your husband), etc. etc.

There is a lot of info out there on Google about it. Also the Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss board is very supportive, and the TTCAL board is also very supportive (and knowledgable about TTC after a loss.)

    So sorry for your losses.

Thanks!  I'll ask about this.  I truly think that my problem is egg quality.  My sister had the same issues and it took IVF with PGD for her to finally have her last child.  And she produced 77 eggs during her last retrieval - only 3 made it past the fertilization and genetic testing - and only 1 stuck!.  I'm hoping my eggs are slightly better -but who knows whats going on in there.

I could be totally wrong but I don't think that DOR is genetic. I'm not a DOR expert, but there are several on this board, so if you are curious about it definitely post a thread about it. Also, if you think that you may have older eggs, I'd get your CD3 bloodwork as well as an AFC. That will give you a better picture of your ovaries and what you have to work with. A protocol for someone with high/normal ovarian reserve would be quite different than someone with diminished ovarian reserve.

The testing was covered by my insurance but I don't get any IF related coverage. Definitely worth looking into to see if you get diagnostic testing covered. Best of luck to you, and again, I'm so sorry for your losses. Hugs!!
