Clicky Poll: What time?

I'm making Charlotte's invitations and can't decide what time to put on them. I'm planning on having a bunch of the typical party foods (we're having a cowgirl theme) such as bbq meatballs, mini corn dogs, hankie pankies, salami rolls, veggies and ranch, fruit, kettle chips, chex party mix, rocky road cake balls, cowgirl cookies and of course birthday cake. Should I have the party around lunchtime (1:00) or mid-day (3:00)? I know it's technically just snack foods, but it's pretty heavy (it's far more than I eat for lunch on any normal day). I still worry that people will come expecting more of a meal if we have it at 1:00. I also worry that people will not eat anything and everything will go to waste if we have it at 3:00. What time would you do?

Re: Clicky Poll: What time?

  • I picked three because I feel like 1 is too early in the day.  Sort of takes up peoples whole day instead of just the afternoon.  Either time would be fine though, especially with regard to the food.

  • Does she still nap?  That would make a difference to me.  We had Logan's 2nd birthday party start at 1/1:30 (can't remember) and he a total crab.  I'm definitely working this year's party around naptime.

  • She does still nap, usually from 12:30-3:30.  Ideally, we would keep with that schedule and start the party afterwards but that gets into dinner time.  Most of the children's parties we have been to have been at lunch time, and it seems that she does fine with them so we'll likely just skip her nap and she'll go down for bed a little earlier in the evening if need be.

  • I would go with whatever time works best for you. You are serving plenty of food for an afternoon party. Have fun!
  • For us we schedule around nap time.  Henry naps from 12-1pm so I had his party later and it only lasted 1-2 hours which was ideal for us.

  • It is whatever works for your schedule.  I chose 1p b/c most kids nap around that time but can hold off a little.  I think 3 would be good too.  We usually do parties at 4 b/c then people have gotten stuff done that day and kids have had naps.  Then we can choose to feed them or just have munchies and they can finish eating when they get home.  Good luck wiht your decision!

Ditto Catrina.  Naptime varies so much we've found 4 to usually work well for everyone :)
