Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Skin to Skin

Just wondering if anyone still does skin to skin contact regularly. I try to still do it during our morning nursing--take her out of her pj's and dress her after she eats. Otherwise I'm not going to strip her naked every time she needs to eat! But I can't remember if the benefits go beyond when baby is a newborn or not. If you do it when do you get it in??

  • I did it a lot when I was on maternity leave, but have only done it more recently when DD was sick and having a hard time teething.  It seemed to help her relax.
  • Morning is all I do on a day to day basis. When she has her bath I do it then too.

  • Ha! I was just thinking of this the other day. I don't recall any info on benefits after 3 months, but I'm sure it can't hurt. I also haven't done it in quite some time.

  • I haven't done it in a long time either. Perhaps we will be having some S2S today!

This is what we do.  Afther his bath I put his diaper on & nurse him in bed.

  • We do after bathtime.  He usually gets a snack then.
  • The closest skin to skin contact we get on a regular basis is when he rests his head on my upper chest as he's trying to fall asleep. He's been sick, so he's been all about cuddling with Mommy.
