Not feeling the urge and need to nest... anyone else?

So I started painting the room about 2 months ago and am almost finished just one wall left. I haven't felt the urge to finish it but I know it needs to get done... And MIL is bringing the baby crib in 2 weeks and that still isn't enough push to get me going... what to do?

  • I am the same way. I am just to tried

  • I wish my nesting instinct would kick in!  I keep waiting for it but so far nothing.  My house could really use a thorough cleaning.

  • If I were you, I would have your DH finish painting it for you!  Maybe getting that done will feel less overwhelming so your nesting will kick in.

Mine has kicked in the last few weeks.  I think it has a lot to do with my family shower being at our house this Sunday.  I really want the room to be as complete as possible before then.  We're just about there!

We'll see if the nesting in the rest of the house continues once the nursery is done!

GL.  I'm sure you'll get there.  And remember, LO won't know if the room's not done when s/he get's here. :)  So don't stress.

  • See it's not that I don't want to clean, hell today I cleaned my whole house just did nothing to get ready for the baby! I feel horrible

  • With my other pregnancies I didn't start to nest until after 35 weeks. You'll get there. Don't worry too much about it not being done before the crib gets there since it's only one wall.
  • nope i'm nesting like crazy........... somedays i scare myself with how productive i am or how much i enjoyed cleaning out that particular cupboard.....

  • Mine has been sporadic. Some weeks I could bake enough for a whole army, or scrub the kitchen until everything is shiny and some days I want nothing to do but Nest on the computer or just sit back and relax.

  • i don't know if i have a nesting instinct...  i'm amazed at all of the work so many ladies here go through to prepare dream nurseries.  we moved into our house four years ago, and i haven't painted a single wall.

the only real nesting-type thing i have to do to prepare for this baby is make a baby quilt, but the thought of being down on the floor, choking on my acid reflux, and trying to keep my toddler away from the rotary cutter just doesn't seem that appealing.

  • Oh no, not me!  I'm such a planner that if I didn't have anything done, I'd be really stressing out about it.  For me, its more about making things and organizing.  Not so much is getting done in the way of cleaning . ....

  • Mine comes in waves as well..... Some days I have this unquenchable urge to do everything (clean, baby room, yard work)...but that urge only comes like once every few weeks. ha. most days I feel like being a complete bum.
  • My nesting instincts kicked in a couple of weeks ago, but then they vanished after only a few days Confused. I'm still waiting for them to make their reappearance because my house could really use a good scrubbing down, and I've got a ton of nursery projects to work on.

I'm not really doing anything until after baby comes. We live in a 2 bedroom condo and our second room is our guest room.  Since baby will sleep in our room for the first few months anyway, I don't feel any pressure to tear apart our guest room now. I also have only bought ONE thing for baby; a 9 mo. old outfit I thought was cute. My baby might not have tons of material things and a cute nursery etc, from her Mommy but she'll have lots of my love and time. I figure that is what newborns want - the other stuff is just what Mommy would like. :)

  • Wow no I don't feel so alone on this subject. lol. Yes I only have one wall left and its where the baby crib is going so its no where near the air conditioner we have in our room. I am very organized I make lists and plans and a schedule but I just dont want to finish the room. lol I am also a perfectionist so it's hard for me to trust my fiance' or step dad to finish painting due to there being straight lines painted on the walls... I am a disaster all in my self.
