  • see, now we really can't be friends.

    ;)

  • Ok :-)  just eat a Snickers for me.  Geez, I can't believe not a single person brought in candy or treats today. I feel so owned!
  • Oh, not here - today alone I've had donuts, almond joy, jolly ranchers, swedish fish, kit kat, sour patch kids, smarties, and one peanut butter cup. Oh, and a tootsie pop.

  • I hate you.
  • Lauren, I would hit you if I could.

No one brought anything today and my home-packed lunch is all healthy foods (which sound great when you pack it the night before).

  • I know! me too!!  I thought we'd have some kind of goodies today, so my lunch consists of a banana, apple, and salad.  That's it.
  • :::sigh:::

Since hearing the words "GD," the single thing that I've wanted the most is a huge king-size snickers.

Only 5.5 more months until I can eat one!! :-)

  • aww Brenda!!  Halloween must be hard - I hope you're not passing out candy.
  • Lest we forget that I'm probably killing my child with all of this sugar? Poor Baby F.?

    ?

And Brenda, I'm purposely talking about candy just to piss you off. I hope you dont mind. *sarcasm*?

  • my lunch = salad + banana + yogurt + carrots .. trying to make up for hardly any workouts this week.

Is there a certain amount of sugar that you're supposed to stay under when you're pregnant? If so, I should know about this, it may be good birth control :)

Um, probably? Am I a bad mom for not knowing? My doctor told me (and from what I hear, this is common) that I should eat whatever I can. If my stomach is being picky, it's better to eat sugar and plain spaghetti than nothing at all!?

  • Eh, it is what it is. I'm done pity partying for the most part.

And anyway, I get to enjoy ALL SORTS of fun things that you girls would never have even discovered... Like Mrs. Smith's 100-calorie bite size desserts - my favorite is the cheesecake. I bet you NORMAL girls never get to sink your teeth into a 2" square of fake cheesecake deliciousness like it's the best thing that was ever created in a food lab. It's heaven. Better than a Snickers, I bet. ****sarcasm****

Plus, since my doc upped my carb counts, I will totally get to eat half a slice of pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving (as long as I go easy on the potatoes!), so Halloween is pretty much nothing to me, but one-day closer to sinking my teeth into pumpkin pie. :-)

And for the record, I had to mandate WHICH candy we bought this year. Absolutely NO Snickers or Butterfinger.

  • Too much sugar isn't good for you in general, but especially not during pregnancy because when you are pregnant, it's even harder for your body to efficiently use insulin.  However, I don't think most doctors set sugar intake "guidelines" for the average patient.  In general they say to try to avoid sugar and processed foods, and instead eat whole grains, fiber, protein, etc.

So actually - when you say eating a lot of sugar is a form of birth control, it's an exaggeration but it's also not that far-fetched...at least in my case! :-)  I wasn't eating a lot of candy, etc, - but cutting back to whole grain everything and low sugar everything made a big dfiference.
