sciatic nerve...preg related??

oh my goodness, the pain.  I have pulled/injured my sciatic nerve before, but it's never been like this! I actually have to stop what I'm doing and try to relax. And I didn't do anything!!! I washed dished this weekend while DH and my brother moved our stuff into our house.  Someone at work mentioned it might be the baby putting pressure on it... anyone else? or heard of a pregnancy side effect with it?

Re: sciatic nerve...preg related??

  • I am pretty sure I read about this somewhere or heard something about it... But I am not 100% sure. I am sure its a normal pg side effect along with every other symptom in the universe, but if you're nervous ask your OB about it.

Side note: my little sister thought it was called the "psychotic" nerve.

  • Yup! It's normal!!! I have had a few moments with it, even where my entire left leg goes numb from it.....

    Take it easy chickadee!

This is very normal.  When my mother was pregnant with me I was pressing on her sciatic nerve.  She had to be put in traction because of it.

  • Totally normal, and unfortunate.  I have this problem as well.  My boss just told me that when she was pregnant with her first, she was laying on the sciatic nerve and it was so bad they had to go in and move her off of it to get some comfort.  Hope none of us get to that state!
