i heard a lot of funny responses, but i think the best one was from my friend kevin, who immediately popped out with "now you and bradley don't have to waste money on protection!" which was only funny because hubby and i were trying to concieve, and everyone knew it
Re: funniest response when you revealed you were pregnant
Haha your friend is definitely right!
When we told my in-law's we gave them a "Grandparents" frame with a poem in it. FIL looked at it and said "oh nice frame" and sat down at the kitchen table. After MIL finished reading she was crying and gave us a hug, FIL finally looked at us confused and said "wait, so this is for real?"
Umm why would we give you a grandparents frame if you weren't going to be grandparents? He's a weirdo!
my BFF and I always complain about our credit cards that we have because we went on a trip to Spain together and then before we each got married we did a fair amount of reckless spending (those days are long gone). Well, she'd always ask me when DH and I were going to have a baby and my response was always "as soon as I get that damn credit card taken care of". Needless to say, I'm here on thebump and stood true to my goal so when I told her I was pregnant she goes..."I am SO JEALOUS you paid off your credit card!" haha I thought it was hilarious because she followed it up with "oh my gosh and I'm so excited, you're going to be a great mom etc." but it cracked me up that the first thing that came out of her mouth was the credit card thing.
Our family reveal was pretty low key. We went to visit them on a Saturday evening and my mom had just served us dinner, and I casually said "thanks for cooking for me and the baby." She dropped her fork, leaned back in her chair, covered her mouth, started crying, and said "Oh my god! Oh my god! I've been waiting so long for this!" Mind you, I'm her oldest and only 27, so the wait wasn't THAT bad!!
I made fun of her later for it.
I saw him a couple weeks ago and he went to hug me and as soon as my bump touched his belly he pushed away as fast as he could without pushing me. He is totally freaked out by baby bumps. The closest to a hug he will give me now is he'll stand beside me, put his arm around me and squeeze. It's too funny to watch him freak over the bump touching him.
My mom's first response was, "YOU'VE KNOWN FOR OVER A WEEK AND YOU'RE JUST TELLING ME NOW?!?!!?" Then she said I had to call all of my grandparents and aunts/uncles, so she could post it on FB.
FI's mom said, "Well, guess you have to get married." Ugh. We've been planning on getting married since August. The baby has nothing to do with that.
Hahahahah this is hilarious. "Slutbag" might be my new favorite word!
My dad cried "hallelujah!" at the dinner table when we told my parents.
We got LOTS of "Was it on purpose?" We said yes, we've been together 10 years and are in our mid-30s -- oops! :-) We just didn't tell anyone we were trying because I didn't feel like having my MIL call me every month to see if I started my period yet.
And from my friend who actually knew we were trying: "Well now you can start having sex for fun again!"
One woman I work with said "Oh great, you with jacked up hormones. Lovely."
I thought that was hilarious considering she is a miserable person.
Hahaha. My MIL did this. We told her at dinner, then my SIL caught her singing "We're gonna have a baby! We're gonna have a baby!" while doing the dishes.
Ha... I love it!!
I told my brother with DS that I was wondering if he was available to baby sit at the end of September. His response was 'I don't want to watch your f*cking dog!' I said I never asked you to watch my dog... he was silent a minute before he figured it out. It was priceless and the only silence I've heard from my brother in 30 years.
I was trying to wait a few more days before I tested, but I kept having dreams that I was pregnant. So, when I woke up from one of these dreams (for the third time that night) at 5am I decided to go ahead and test. The line was so faint I decided I was seeing things, so I took a digi, which came up "pregnant". I waited until 6:45, when my husbands alarm clock was about to go off, before I woke him up and shoved the pee stick under his sleepy nose. He just said "What am I looking at?" I said "A positive pregnancy test!!" and he said "Don't lie to me first thing in the morning!" lol.
My best friend (who was 6 months pregnant herself) literally tackled me into a snowbank and started crying. I thought we were gonna get frost bite before I got her off of me.
My 15 year old son just yelled "I knew it, your face looks different!"
My dad had the best response to my bfp. He is a HUGE Notre Dame fan as is the entire family. He lives in FL and keeps a home in IL just for the ND football season. SO, when I emailed him a pic of my pregnancy test that said "Pregnant". He called me and said, "No honey, there are no pregames scheduled, but the first kick-off is on 9/3 and at home." Ummm.... it doesn't say "pregame" it says "Pregnant".
After hearing about a big announcement from my other classes, upon hearing I was pregnant, one girl said....
"Oh. I thought you had brought in doughnuts."
Tie between my MIL and FIL. As soon as we told MIL, she just looked like we hit hit her in the head with a shovel, it was freakin hilarious! Too bad I was on the verge of hyperventilating from panic at telling her.
FIL told us a few weeks ago (a couple weeks after we told him), that now was the best time to experiment (sexually) since we were already pregnant, now there's no fear. He went on to talk sex in front of my FI, who was bright red, with me laughing hysterically beside his dad.
Well I had asked my brothers if they wanted to be an uncle again so while on the phone my one brother said "so your getting a dog, what kind?"
Then My FIL said to my husband "You been touchin her?" all serious but in a funny way. Made me laugh since not even my own father said anything.
My Oldest Brother told me to sign up for EHarmony cause he wanted his niece or nephew to have a father but he was going to kill my hubby!! Can you tell I am the baby and only girl in my family.. My brothers are protective but they joke with my hubby all the time.
