funniest response when you revealed you were pregnant

i heard a lot of funny responses, but i think the best one was from my friend kevin, who immediately popped out with "now you and bradley don't have to waste money on protection!" which was only funny because hubby and i were trying to concieve, and everyone knew it

Re: funniest response when you revealed you were pregnant

  • Haha your friend is definitely right!

When we told my in-law's we gave them a "Grandparents" frame with a poem in it.  FIL looked at it and said "oh nice frame" and sat down at the kitchen table. After MIL finished reading she was crying and gave us a hug, FIL finally looked at us confused and said "wait, so this is for real?"

Umm why would we give you a grandparents frame if you weren't going to be grandparents?  He's a weirdo!

  • I think the funniest we got was from my FIL. We showed him the positive test and he said "what is this?" Then we told him and he was really excited.

my BFF and I always complain about our credit cards that we have because we went on a trip to Spain together and then before we each got married we did a fair amount of reckless spending (those days are long gone). Well, she'd always ask me when DH and I were going to have a baby and my response was always "as soon as I get that damn credit card taken care of". Needless to say, I'm here on thebump and stood true to my goal so when I told her I was pregnant she goes..."I am SO JEALOUS you paid off your credit card!" haha I thought it was hilarious because she followed it up with "oh my gosh and I'm so excited, you're going to be a great mom etc." but it cracked me up that the first thing that came out of her mouth was the credit card thing.

  • From my co-worker who is also a friend and babysits DD for me a lot....  She asked if DH knew!!  I was like....why wouldn't he? - we are not best friends by any means, not sure why she thought I would tell her before my own husband!

  • We told our in-laws on Christmas, the same day we found out.  We wrapped the digital test in wrapping paper, and when my mother-in-law opened it, she said "what is this a thermometer?" My SIL had to explain what it was !!

  • One of my cw's asked if my mom knew yet.  Hmm

  • Our family reveal was pretty low key.  We went to visit them on a Saturday evening and my mom had just served us dinner, and I casually said "thanks for cooking for me and the baby."  She dropped her fork, leaned back in her chair, covered her mouth, started crying, and said "Oh my god! Oh my god! I've been waiting so long for this!"  Mind you, I'm her oldest and only 27, so the wait wasn't THAT bad!! :)  I made fun of her later for it.

  • One of my girlfriends said "well aren't you a little slutbag!" and it was classic. She is hilarious and it was a perfect response from her, definitely my favorite reaction.

  • I think my funniest was when I saw my dad for the first time after telling him.  I called him the day I got my BFP back in January and he was really excited.

I saw him a couple weeks ago and he went to hug me and as soon as my bump touched his belly he pushed away as fast as he could without pushing me.  He is totally freaked out by baby bumps.  The closest to a hug he will give me now is he'll stand beside me, put his arm around me and squeeze.  It's too funny to watch him freak over the bump touching him.

  • My mom's first response was, "YOU'VE KNOWN FOR OVER A WEEK AND YOU'RE JUST TELLING ME NOW?!?!!?" Then she said I had to call all of my grandparents and aunts/uncles, so she could post it on FB.

FI's mom said, "Well, guess you have to get married." Ugh. We've been planning on getting married since August. The baby has nothing to do with that.

  • i think the general reaction that i've gotten from everyone (except my mom) was "are u serious?" "ur kidding right?" "stop lying"....pretty typical because i'm the LAST person anyone would expect to get pregnant. Let's just say Me & children mix like oil & water. But my mom was cute. She started dancing & singing "we're gonna have a baby!!"

  • We got LOTS of "Was it on purpose?" We said yes, we've been together 10 years and are in our mid-30s -- oops! :-) We just didn't tell anyone we were trying because I didn't feel like having my MIL call me every month to see if I started my period yet.

And from my friend who actually knew we were trying: "Well now you can start having sex for fun again!"

  • My husband knew I was going to take the "test" first thing the following morning.  What he didn't know was that I was going to wake up at 5 am and not be able to wait.  When I saw the positive result I dropped my robe and towel in my hands and started screamed "I'm pregnant!" - next thing I'm bouncing on the bed to wake him up and after the longest minute of him coming to he says "is it a boy?"  Needless to say he wasn't awake and thought he must be dreaming!

  • One woman I work with said "Oh great, you with jacked up hormones. Lovely."

I thought that was hilarious considering she is a miserable person.

  • We got our positive test on New Years Day and I knew there was no way I'd be able to wait to tell my parents in person., so I asked them to Skype that evening. A few minutes in our 90 lb Lab hopped up into my lap because he recognized my parents voices. I told them Cooper was going to be a big brother and then held the digital pregnancy test up super close to the camera. My Dad said, "What! You're getting another puppy?!". He thought the test was a dog bone. Meanwhile, my Mom was freaking out behind him because she knew exactly what she'd just seen. She hit my Dad and said, "No, they're having a baby!" It was so classic and soooo my parents!

Hahaha. My MIL did this. We told her at dinner, then my SIL caught her singing "We're gonna have a baby! We're gonna have a baby!" while doing the dishes. :D

  • The funniest repines I go was from one of my classes. They applauded! I laughed.

  • When I was pregnant with my oldest I was in complete denial that I could be pregnant because I had such a messed up cycle that it seemed to be a long shot. Anyways, I finally went to the DR when I was about 5 months along because I felt the baby move and I am super skinny and you could feel the hardness of something in there. Anyways, I walked into the dr's office and the nurse gets my vitals and all and asks me why I'm there. By this time I'm in my room and I explain that I am pregnant and she said why do you think this and I said because the baby is right here and kicks me. She was a little asian women and she ran out of the room like a ghost and got the doppler and sure enough there was a heart beat. Second response came after a 4 hour drive to my parents house directly following the dr's confirmation. I had to tell my Dad in person. It was 9pm at this point and my dad was in bed. I walked into his room (he thought he was dreaming) I woke him up and started crying and said Dad, I'm pregnant!! He said "That's what happens when you do IT!!" We didn't tell my mom until the following day over the phone and she said "Did you think I'd be mad?" My favorite reaction had to be given to my In-laws. If you read my bio you'd understand the reasoning, but anyways. My DH didn't EVER tell his parents. The day AFTER I had my son they showed up to my apartment (4 hours from their home) to see if the pregnancy rumor was true!! I was so upset at my husband but handed over a little white boy with blonde hair and blue eyes to this hispanic family. It was so funny!

  • I told my brother with DS that I was wondering if he was available to baby sit at the end of September. His response was 'I don't want to watch your f*cking dog!' I said I never asked you to watch my dog... he was silent a minute before he figured it out. It was priceless and the only silence I've heard from my brother in 30 years.

  • I was trying to wait a few more days before I tested, but I kept having dreams that I was pregnant. So, when I woke up from one of these dreams (for the third time that night) at 5am I decided to go ahead and test. The line was so faint I decided I was seeing things, so I took a digi, which came up "pregnant". I waited until 6:45, when my husbands alarm clock was about to go off, before I woke him up and shoved the pee stick under his sleepy nose. He just said "What am I looking at?" I said "A positive pregnancy test!!" and he said "Don't lie to me first thing in the morning!" lol.

My best friend (who was 6 months pregnant herself) literally tackled me into a snowbank and started crying. I thought we were gonna get frost bite before I got her off of me.

My 15 year old son just yelled "I knew it, your face looks different!"

  • My dad had the best response to my bfp. He is a HUGE Notre Dame fan as is the entire family. He lives in FL and keeps a home in IL just for the ND football season. SO, when I emailed him a pic of my pregnancy test that said "Pregnant". He called me and said, "No honey, there are no pregames scheduled, but the first kick-off is on 9/3 and at home." Ummm.... it doesn't say "pregame" it says "Pregnant".

  • The most hilarious response came from my 12 year old half-brother.  DH and I took all three of my siblings out to dinner and I asked them if they knew how to paint.  They each said yes, then I said well good because we're going to need help painting the nursery in a few months. My 12 year old brother blurts out in an extremely loud voice, "COOL, MY SISTER'S KNOCKED UP!"

Tie between my MIL and FIL. As soon as we told MIL, she just looked like we hit hit her in the head with a shovel, it was freakin hilarious! Too bad I was on the verge of hyperventilating from panic at telling her.

FIL told us a few weeks ago (a couple weeks after we told him), that now was the best time to experiment (sexually) since we were already pregnant, now there's no fear. He went on to talk sex in front of my FI, who was bright red, with me laughing hysterically beside his dad.

  • Well I had asked my brothers if they wanted to be an uncle again so while on the phone my one brother said "so your getting a dog, what kind?"

Then My FIL said to my husband "You been touchin her?" all serious but in a funny way. Made me laugh since not even my own father said anything.

My Oldest Brother told me to sign up for EHarmony cause he wanted his niece or nephew to have a father but he was going to kill my hubby!! Can you tell I am the baby and only girl in my family.. My brothers are protective but they joke with my hubby all the time.

  • These are pretty funny! I took my test while out of town for a work training.  It was the day before we left to go home so the suspense of getting home wasnt too bad.  I went with 3 girls I am pretty close to so I didn't feel awkward and they were a GREAT support system. When we were back to work that monday, I thought I should tell my supervisor.  She is very laid back and is more of a friend, so I didn't mind telling her so early (I found out at 6wks) I sat down with her and said, "I have something I need to talk to you about." She immediately responded with, "Are you pregnant?!?!" It was so funny! I told her that yes, I was, and then her shock and excitement set in.  She was only making the assumption as a joke, since the last group that went for the training had a girl who also found out she was pregnant! Now we call it the "Albany Curse".  Other people I work with are getting pretty reluctant to go!!

  • My ILs are a bit clueless sometimes. When we sent them a pic with my ds in a big brother tshirt, they never called us. So dh called and asked them what they thought of the shirt. They said "oh its nice, who's shirt is it, a hand me down?" dh says "Um no its brand new". They still didnt get it (or maybe they didnt want to believe it). Finally dh just blurted out " she's pregnant!". It was hilarious and sad at the same time.
