2nd Trimester

Mucus Plug

I just read a post about what the mucus plug looks like and I am freaking out!  This morning when I went to pee I noticed an unusual glob of clear stringy mucus (very much like thick egg whites with that white membrane included), no blood, on my underwear.  Should I be worried????

  • No i wouldnt worry about that. I get that too. I even had it before i got pregnant. I think it's just a clear discharge that is common during pregnancy.  this article is good about it https://www.babycenter.com/0_vaginal-discharge-during-pregnancy_270.bc

  • I have been getting the same thing too.  I think its normal.  My mom just keeps saying....as long as your not bleeding or in severe pain, you are probably okay.
  • An increase in mucus discharge is normal and fine, I know I notice extra (more than before I was PG)  If you notice any brown/blood/redness to it, or it becomes excessive definitely get in touch with your OB just to make sure your fine... but it sounds normal to me at this stage.

  • Even if it does fall out, it can grow back. I've heard that they will sometimes fall out in early third tri but people still go into labor during the normal time period.

  • No need to worry. I've been having unique and icky varieties of vaginal discharge since 7 weeks.

This.  I lost mine around 33 weeks & didn't have DD until I was almost 39 weeks.

  • No, it sounds like CM and is completely normal.  I had a lot of it with this pregnancy.  It finally went around around 18 weeks and I have noticed it as much since then.  You will know when it's your MP.
