OMG tail bone pain!

I have read a couple posts on the August board about people with tail bone pain. Well.. now for the past week I have had it. Its horrible! I stand at my job for most of the day. Usually when I stand it does not hurt but when I go to sit or lay it hurts. Does anyone know why it hurts? I am 22 weeks tomorrow and I honestly do not sit on my toosh an abnormal amount. Does anyone know anything that can help? I am going to go to target tomorrow and buy a heating pad. I read in other posts that heat might help. Although thinking of putting heat on my booty sounds a little funny. Any advice would be great!

Re: OMG tail bone pain!

  • Right there with you!! I have a heating pad and it works wonders. My tailbone has been hurting while I'm standing (I waitress) and also while I sit. Try to lay on your side if you can or put your legs up.

  • My pain actually just happened today! Hope you get lots of tips, so I can read them too!
  • This is so TMI and slightly embarrassing but I just put a mentholated patch in between by butt crack.. at the very top. I just need some relief... I am so uncomfortable... First  thing tomorrow I am going to get a heating pad.

  • I've been suffering from this for a couple weeks now.  Mine usually happens after I've been sitting on a hard surface.  I'm getting weekly chiro adjustments plus I'm trying stretching and yoga.  Seems to help a little bit.
  • I broke my tail bone about 4 years ago & it had hurt ever since (especially sitting on a hard surface or stool when my feet can't reach the floor) but it has gotten worse in the past couple of weeks! I'll have to try a heating pad, but I seriously have not had any relief from the pain in 4 years, aside from avoiding sitting somewhere that makes it worse! I too am going to follow this so I can read any advice!

  • I fractured my tailbone delivering my first born and it bothers me often, but MUCH more so in pregnancy. With the added weight, and movement of things it's to be expected. I just try Tylenol and try laying down for a bit. It's the only that seems to help me. {It's hurting right now as I sit at my computer typing this.} Sad

  • My doctor told me it was probably growing pains. I sit at my job all day long. It hurts really bad when I first stand up, and starts hurting more and more throughout the day as I'm sitting on it.

  • I have had this too!  Look up the cat/cow yoga stretch.  It really helps me with lower back pain.  Also, the chiropractor is fantastic.  Good luck!
  • I had this with my first pregnancy and so far haven't had it with this pregnancy (fingers crossed).

I know it's embarrassing, but I sat on a donut.  My Ob/gyn recommended it and it's the only thing that worked for me.

    Feel better!

  • A heating pad helps me, that's about all I have been able to try. I am a teacher and went on 2 trips last week and spent about 9 hours total on the bus over those two days. I hurt so bad for several days. I try to walk around during the day, and not sit down for too long. Hope you get some comfort!
