I don't know if it's tendonitis or what it is, but the outside of my left wrist is pretty swollen, and right now it hurts like hell. The pain comes and goes, and it tends to get worst as the day goes on - when I wake up in the morning, it's almost nonexistent, but by the time I'm washing dishes after dinner, it's often hard to hold a pot in that hand. Typing for a long time (like I've been doing all day, trying to get a memo done), is the worst. I've been trying to move my keyboard or myself around, but no matter where I put it or how I sit, the typing still makes it worse. It's been going on for about a week now.
I previously had surgery on the inside of this wrist for a tendon problem, back in 2006, but everything's been fine since, and this is definitely a different problem. I'm about to call my orthopedist who did my surgery a few years ago to try and make an appointment, but I'm sort of wondering what he's going to be able to do for me, given my "delicate condition." I know he'll likely give me some exercises or something if it's just tendonitis, and maybe a brace or something, but what else? Can I have cortisone shots while pregnant? I know most Rx painkillers are out. . .

Could be. I always thought carpal tunnel was in the top part of your hand/wrist, but I've never had it, so maybe I'm wrong. this is in the outside side of my wrist, like, the side my pinky is on. There's that bone right there that sticks out - and on my left wrist, on a bad day, you can barely make out the bone because it gets so swollen.
I just called and I have an appointment with my doctor's PA on Thursday morning. Hopefully he can at least tell me what it likely is and what I can to to help.
This. I never had carpal tunnel until I was preg with DD It was so bad I couldnt bend my fingers...its actually really common during pregnacy.
